At an appearance at George Washington University...Bill Maher bounded into territory that the news media have been gingerly tiptoeing around.
Magic underwear. Baptizing dead people. Celestial marriages. Private planets. Racism. Polygamy.
By any standard, Mormonism is more ridiculous than any other religion...Its...founded on the idea of polygamy. They call it The Principle. That sounds like The Prime Directive in Star Trek.
He said he expects the Romney crowd...to once more gloss over the differences between Christians and Mormons.

Another famous nonbeliever, Christopher Hitchens, wrote in Slate...about the weird and sinister belief system of the LDS...
Aside from Joseph Smith, whom Hitchens calls a fraud and conjurer well known to the authorities in upstate New York, the writer also wonders about the Mormon practice of amassing archives of the dead...to retrospectively baptize everybody as a convert.
Hitchens noted that they got hold of a list of those put to death by the Nazis Final Solution and began making these massacred Jews into honorary LDS members as well. He called it a crass attempt at mass identity theft from the deceased.
The Mormons even baptized Anne Frank.
It took Ernest Michel, then chairman of the American Gathering of Jewish Holocaust Survivors, three years to get Mormons to agree to stop proxy-baptizing Holocaust victims.

Kent Jackson, the associate dean of religion at Brigham Young University, says that while Mormons are Christians, Mormonism is not part of the Christian family tree.
It probably wont comfort skeptical evangelicals and Catholics to know that Mormons think that while other Christians merely have a portion of the truth, what God revealed to Joseph Smith is the fullness of the truth, as Jackson says...

Hey Binger; do you have a picture from your friend's place on TOP of Sugar Knoll?
Looking out across the canyon he's situated next to?
When you learn about mormonISM get back to me.
At last,
I shall give myself to the desert again,
That I, in its golden dust,
May be blown from a barren peak
Broadcast over the sun-lands.
If you should desire some news of me,
Go ask the little horned toad
Whose home is in the dust,
Or seek it among the fragrant sage,
Or question the mountain juniper
And, by their silence,
They will truly inform you.
-Maynard Dixon (May, 1935)
Recited last night by Mrs. Binger shortly after a strong presentation by David Lee.

mormonISM is not Christian.
And not one person has said mormons can not practice their religion.
Not one person has said that they want an official state religion.
Either learn the Constitution and mormonISM or be quiet, it really appears you know nothing about either.

I’m just happy my mother showed up clothed. :)
Seriously, Mr and Mrs Binger were very gracious considering I showed up with my crazy mother rather than my intellectual husband.
The view (and the drive there) is very impressive, moreso than even the rest of Utah.
Glad it went well last night.
Sorry to have been in such a hurry. I’ll bet you enjoyed the drive through Zion Park though.
We DO have a "Jim Robinson run Christian FR forum"....or hadn't you noticed?
I have every right to expect our nations leaders to believe in certain values. That doesnt mean I want those leaders to LEGISLATE or require every citizen believe as they do!
Values and religion are separate. Why are you worried about Mitts Mormonism if you dont expect leaders to legislate based on their religion?
Are you a moron, or are you possessed by a retarded ghost? As challenged show me where did I explicited state that, not your sorry derailed logic. Facts are he was a mormon and as such his decisions were influenced by his beliefs. Only a stark raving loon would infer that I am advocating a legislated religion - open you constitution and read it before emptying your mind.
No, Im not a Mormon, but Im not a bigot like you who supports something that the Constitution bars dumbass. You said before that, because Mitt didnt disavow his religion, he governed as a Mormon. You have no proof of that, and it makes your prediction on how hed be as president look stupid.
If a person claims a religious belief - that is not a public decision politics - pretty simple to figure out - I would have expected that even you could have. In case you haven’t figured it out - you are digging a very deep hole for yourself.
I didnt say it was a public decision. You said that any candidate who would be a Muslim who didnt support Sharia Law would be accused as being a non-believer. I said it wouldnt be up to the public to decide.
Nor the constitution either - yet we see with this one the backdoor moves to challenge our 2d amendment rights and if empowered by a like thinking congress can legislate to overturn the SC - checks and balances thing you didn’t learn in school - you must have had a public education.
This has nothing to do with Mitt Romney or abortion. You claimed that the Constitution protected the right to an abortion, because of the Supreme Court, just like it protects religion, when it does not.
And you are a bigger bigot to say I can’t use his religious beliefs as part of my evaluation of his qualifications to be president. His religion is a component of why I don’t want him as president. Small minded people like yourself fail to grasp that simple concept.
Youve yet to show how as Governor of Mass. he governed negatively through his Mormonism or as a Mormon. You can evaluate him as a Mormon, but then you cant like the Constitution, because the Constitution bars that.
You have an open mind, and a mouth to match. And that same constitution ALLOWS ANYONE (PROTECTS THE RIGHT) to judge the capabilities of that person for office based upon ANY criteria they desire.
You should really read the constitution to understand where you are wrong some time. Unfortunately you’ll have to read it - it doesn’t come in a picture version.
Your criteria is bigoted, it you are using the First Amendment to say something that the Constitution bars
