President Barack Obamas re-election campaign is asking artists to design promotional posters that convey a message: support American jobs. The brutal irony for artists, however, is that they will receive no payment for their work.
The campaign, which has $61 million on hand, will reward only the three artists whose work is selected for use. The compensation? A copy of their artwork, signed by the president.
The Graphic Artists Guild isnt pleased with the ask. On Saturday, the guild issued an open letter to the campaign voicing outrage over what it called a shameful competition.

“The compensation? A copy of their artwork, signed by the president”
Huh? That’s weird. Obama putting his name on somebody else’s work :).
I've seen one of these murals in a post office in Iowa.
Several of the “workers” have hammer and sickle logos on
their clothing.
Obama supports American jobs? I just read a story on Drudge about DHS and Napolitano supporting american jobs for illegals. So which is it?
That would be because talent does not equate to brains, intelligence, education, common sense, or even common decency.
Liberalism, on the other hand, is inversely proportional to all of the above.
“Occupy Wall Street”.
Roughly translated to Mandarin: Cultural Revolution.
Or send in a picture of an 0 campaign button in a jar of urine.
OTOH... In a free market system, if their work is any good, someone will buy it. If their work isn't - has no appeal to anyone willing to buy it - then they get out of the art business. In the real world, not every singer goes platinum, not every actor/actress wins an Oscar...and not every piece of sculpture and/or painting ends up on public display. Of course, kids today are raised, praised, and rewarded even when they haven't really achieved anything (academically, socially, in sports, etc) They simply expect to get rewarded "for the effort." BS We have a whole generation (or two or three) of really damaged kids and young adults out there.
Money has to be given to Union bosses, PR honchos, ACORN types...you know - the important people. There isn't enough left to pay artists for their work...
If Obama was assured of winning again you would not hear any complaints. Just think of 2008 how many artists complained and does anyone think Obama paid them. This time is different since Obama and the liberals cant be sure this will guarantee then access to NEA taxpayers funds. Without a sure bet of free money they want payment upfront this time.
They are so out of touch with reality. They will resort to other means..Voter fraud, manufactured crisis, rent a mobs, fake media stories... any means will be used for 2012.
We had a fellow who was a refugee from Cuba whose job for a good while was to make sure this stuff was preserved as post offices were remodeled. A good number of them had been painted over to preserve them back during the period when the Post Office Department thought everything should be green and mauve.
It was horrible.
Anyway an anticommunist was in charge of NOT removing those hammers and sickles and Joe Stalin moustaches in some cases. I guess that makes it all OK eh!
Great idea!
It doesn't astound me considering how many of those same type clymers were in that Demi and Kelso "I pledge to be a servant of Barack Obama" disgustathon video. Seems like Barry is just taking them up on their pledge.
I don't get it - what does that mean??
Maybe we should flood them with Work for Free posters for the campaign.
You really can’t blame these folks for being outraged. After all, how much will Zero’s signature be worth in a year? Zero?
It’s a family forum here. You get it. Mao refused to bathe. He declared his private parts clean by doing you know what in little virgin girls. It was discussed in a documentary on the history chanel on the five most evil men ever to walk the earth. Mao, Stalin, Pol-Pot, Musselinni, and Hitler. It documented their lives in full detail.
