Oversize Man Sues White Castle Over Seats

NANUET, N.Y. - A 290-pound New York man is steaming mad at the White Castle fast-food chain, which he claims repeatedly broke promises to make the booths in his local eatery bigger.

Martin Kessman, 64, filed a lawsuit against the fast-food giant last week in Manhattan federal court, claiming that the uncomfortable booths violate the civil rights of fat people.

Kessman's lawsuit came more than two years after he complained to White Castle about the size of the booths at the Nanuet, N.Y., eatery and reportedly received a pledge that renovations would be carried out to cater for larger customers.

"They sent me specs and everything, about how the booths were going to be enlarged and made comfortable for people with a little more weight. So two and a half years went by, and nothing was done," he told the New York Post , adding that he has no problem finding a place to take a load off at other fast-food places and fits easily into airline seats.

The Americans with Disabilities Act is "applicable -- not only to me, but to pregnant women and to handicapped people," according to Kessman, who is suing for bigger chairs and unspecified damages. "I just want to sit down like a normal person."

White Castle is aka Crystal's south of the Mason-Dixon line.
As a member of the "gravitationally challenged" community I'm calling for an OCCUPY WHITE CASTLE movement to end this egregious injustice. Being fat is where it's at! /sarc

I know there are those who have metabolic problems, but it seems as though a lot of people don’t want to exercise self-control.

Yes, those “murder burgers” as we called them back in “daBronx” are one of my biggest weaknesses, but I don’t go there nearly as often as I did and guess what, I’m actually losing weight!

So then why continue to visit White Castle? Answer: so he can sue them.

There’s a place called “Heart-attack Cafe” where they fry the fries in lard. They also spread it on the hamburger bun.Blech! Cardiac Arrest at Table 7!

When you overeat for many years, your sense of perception changes.

Normal amounts of food do end up looking like Ethiopian rations.

The video said they changed the seating for over weight people and gave a list of white castles that will fit him. So, yeah it is about money

At 6’8” I seldom if ever fit in public seating. But I would never dream of suing.

I grew up eating food fried in lard. When I visit family in Jamaica I still do.

Montego Bay derives its name from the Spanish words ‘Bahia de Mantega”, which means bay of lard. The name is courtesy the lard industry that flourished in the 16th century using lard from wild boars hunted in the neighboring region.

We have to implement a loser-pays requirement in our tort system. Once that’s in place then, fine, sue your fat behind off.

The man is a cow, both mentally and physically. They should make the doorways only 24” wide so if you are too fat to fit through you can’t eat White Castle.

Next thing you know, people will be suing restaurants because the food isn’t to their liking.

No wait, they are probably already doing that.

Apparently you missed the “right to be a lard-ass” written into the Constitution by the Framers 220 years ago.
