Lisa Simeone fires back @ NPR (she speaks for OWS)
Baltimor Sun ^ | 10/19/11 | David Zurawik

Posted on 10/19/2011 10:17:54 PM PDT by Drango

Baltimore broadcaster Lisa Simeone fired back Wednesday night after National Public Radio told the Baltimore Sun it was looking into her role as a spokesman for a group involved in the Occupy D.C. movement.

The public radio veteran expressed puzzlement as to why NPR "objects" to her exercising her "rights as a citizen," and she questioned why such big-name NPR correspondents and hosts as Mara Liaason, Scott Simon and Cokie Roberts are allowed to operate under what appears to be a different standard than the one being applied to her.

At issue is whether NPR feels her activities on behalf of the overtly partisan group are acceptable in light of her role as host of NPR's "World of Opera." NPR insists that it is impartial, but its politics have been much debated the last year in wake of the broadcaster firing analyst Juan Williams for remarks he made on Fox News about his feelings toward some people he perceived to be Muslims.

Simeone's role as a spokeswoman for October 2011, a group encamped in the nation's capital as part of the Occupy D.C. movement, was first questioned in a blog post at The Daily Caller Wednesday.

~snip

"I'm not an NPR employee," she continued. " I'm a freelancer. ~snip

Simeone went on to say, ... Does NPR also send out "Communications Alerts" about their activities?"

The last sentence is a reference to directive sent out by NPR late Wednesday telling stations not to talk to the press about Simeone's situation -- to direct all inquiries to NPR press.

~snip

I would not be surprised if by the end of Thursday, Simeone is no longer hosting Soundprint or World of Opera.

According to one source, Soundprint fired Simeone Wednesday night. But that has yet to be confirmed with Simeone or Soundprint.

You might be a radical leftist when NPR thinks you’ve gone too far.

Will they keep Simone after letting Juan Williams go?

Well she has the "Sexist Card(R)" so she should be ok.

But wait... Juan had the "Race Card(R)" and that didn't help him at all.

It's confusing out there in PC Land. ;~))

Q: What's black & white & RED all over?
A: An OWS "protest."

This classic riddle has an all new meaning now that I doubt the original author ever intended. Modern "newspapers" like the Baltimore Sun (BS) cited in this thread really are RED all over - as are their compatriots in the OWS rabble.

Re:      Communications Alert

We recently learned of World of Opera host Lisa Simeone’s participation in an Occupy DC group. World of Opera is produced by WDAV, a music and arts station based in Davidson, North Carolina. The program is distributed by NPR. Lisa is not an employee of WDAV or NPR; she is a freelancer with the station.

We're in conversations with WDAV about how they intend to handle this. We of course take this issue very seriously.

As a reminder, all public comment (including social media) on this matter is being managed by NPR Communications.

All media requests should be routed through NPR Communications at 202.513.2300 or mediarelations@npr.orgThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We will keep you updated as needed. Thanks.

The possibility of a Republican sweep in 2012 makes NPR pretend to be something other than what they are.

DEFUND NPR!

From the About us page at October2011 Movement web page

http://october2011.org/about

Lisa Simeone is a proud loudmouthed feminist and rabble-rouser. Her husband wonders whether her love of natty dressing might interfere with her participation in the revolution. She lives in Baltimore, Maryland.

If they let democrats work for them, I don’t see a problem with her supporting OWS.

“... Mara Liaason, Scott Simon and Cokie Roberts are allowed to operate under what appears to be a different standard than the one being applied to her.”

I love it when Liberals are exposed to Liberal “standards”.

Hey Lisa, Liberal standards are living, evolving standards, that are applied to some, but not others. Surely you know this? You support this thinking all the time.

Apparently you forgot to contribute to some “worthy cause” or have sex with the right people. Or maybe it is just your turn over the barrel. Perhaps you should consider becoming bisexual, giving you victim status & influence with a whole new group of people. Think of this episode as your sacrifice for the cause of chaos. There is profit in chaos, you know.

Actually, y’all read it first on FreeRepublic, not “The Daily Caller”!!!! Complements of intrepid “reporter” and classical music lover Honorary Serb!!!!

Only I now think that Simeone is an UNWITTING “ACORN/SEIU/Soros ally” (i.e., a useful idiot), unlike REAL Sorosite Medea Benjamin who is all over the october2011.org/Freedom Square DC “protest”!!!!

I’d actually think she has a point. A freelancer covering opera doesn’t really have the objectivity issues of a full-time journalist.

They should NOT have fired Juan Williams! That fixes THAT issue.

Defund NPR! We already have CNN/MSNBC/ABC/CBS/NBC. Why do we need a publicly funded version of the same thing?

NPR classical music (including Simeone’s program) is OK, however!

The poor, naieve girl apparently doesn't understand that even though it's blatantly obvious that the station management and reporters are pushing the liberal political agenda, they're never supposed to come right out and admit it publicly.
