Steve Forbes was in Boston and spoke about the 2012 Presidential race and why he's leaning towards supporting Rick Perry.
"I'm obviously leaning towards Governor Perry. I talked to his people about the flat tax and I think that's the way to go," says Steve Forbes.
"I think with the formal unveiling next week he'll truly be a frontrunner again and will be dominating the debate."
Forbes promoted a flat tax plan when he ran for president in 1996 and 2000. He favors a simplified tax plan and starting over again on healthcare.

A moment in the wayback machine, if we may:
“Mar 29, 2007 · Rudolph W. Giuliani accepted the endorsement of Steve Forbes yesterday and embraced Mr. Forbess signature issue, saying he liked the idea of a flat tax ...”
Just in case we forgot. Wait... didn’t Perry endorse Giuliani also?
Hit us at our weakest. These things would’ve never happened when we could all make our mortgages and buy the latest playstation. Now we’re all wondering if our job will last another month and diffused. We’ll all probably get a 2k check in the mail if we agree to adding Canada and all the lower countries to America.
Not an endorsement... Rush Limbaugh had Elton John at his wedding, but hardly endorsed his lifestyle, though that act was more of an approval than visiting another politician.
And Mexican farmers complain that they need to hire the cheap labor of the Guatemalans because the Mexicans won't do the hard work of picking etc.
I was thinking that perhaps it might be DaveLoneRanger, Then I realized that DaveLoneRanger isn't semi-irrelavant, he's just simply irrelevant.
Forbes was as big of a joke at campaigning as perry. Birds of a feather.
“Forbes was as big of a joke at campaigning as perry”
Obama, on the other hand is a great campaigner — is that what matters to you?
Have you signed on with the obummer campaign as well, double shift. Your little fingers will get tired.
You have no perspective. None. Zero.
You refuse to learn from history, refuse to learn from the California experience. By your reckoning, as you plead meaningless polling data, CA would not have turned into a one party state in the mid-90s. And yet that history is written.
You will slam on the accelerator while this nation drives off a cliff and do it in the name of purity and false piety.
I strongly opposed in-state tuition here in CA but I can still put things into context.
A decade old Texas program isn't a speck on a pimple in the grand scheme of things. The problem is Washington's twenty years of failure to secure the border or figure out what to do with the millions allowed to become squatters.
Fully 69% of Americans in the latest IBD/TIPP poll say they dont favor states giving in-state college tuition to illegal residents while charging higher fees for legal, out-of-state residents. Just 22% support such a policy. 73% of Republicans are opposed vs. 20% in favor.
Independents have even stronger views: 74%-15%. Even Democrats are strongly opposed 58%-32%.
In fact, a majority of every major subgroup opposes giving illegals in-state tuition rates men and women, rich and poor, urban and rural. Hispanics, who have more conflicted views over illegal immigration than is commonly known, are opposed, 54%-28%. Blacks, who often see illegal immigrants as rivals for jobs, are the most opposed, 80%-12%.
Moreover, on this issue, I am in agreement with the owner of this forum. Does JR have no perspective also?

I do not believe that La Raza Rick Perry, who is pro-ILLEGAL alien, should be the POTUS. If that, in your mind, means I have "no perspective", then I will happily take my place in the group of those with "no perspective" while you and your pro-ILLEGAL alien minority watch as your pro-ILLEGAL alien hero gets kicked to the curb where he belongs.
Added to the perry files ;)
I don't see how Perry will sell it. It'll be demonized as a tax break for the 1% blah, blah.
The Flat Tax has the benefit (or liability?) of not being a brand new proposal, unlike 999, and not having the added sales tax component which has too many in an uproar.
On the downside, it won't have the sales tax so there's no capturing underground economy money. That part of 999 is appealing.
We'll see what Perry's version of a Flat Tax does on the low end and with deductions and whether this is income tax only reform or if it's deeper.
It's all academic though, Obama will win reelection.
Incredible.
There's no mystery here.
Well, a long way around the barn for Steve Forbes (and the American taxpayer) but we may finally see the flat tax!!
My opposition to in-state tuition is well-documented. You don't scare me.
Astroturf away, put your head in the sand, push other freepers around. It won't change what happened to the CA-GOP and when it happens nationally, remember your part in it.
That right there is a killer. Its time for everyone to pay their fair share.
Typical of a 3%er -- accuse others of lying when they have not. How incredibly weak.
My opposition to in-state tuition is well-documented.
I can't comment on that. But I do know your defense of ILLEGAL aliens sure is.
You don't scare me.
You really aren't very perceptive. I wasn't trying to scare you. My post proved wrong your wild-eyed assertion that I am astroturfing when in fact I am in the majority. It is you who are astroturfing, but that's what you 3%ers do. You must, because, like La Raza Rick you enjoy an incredibly scant amount of support.
Astroturf away, put your head in the sand, push other freepers around. It won't change what happened to the CA-GOP and when it happens nationally, remember your part in it.
When we take America back from the likes of liberals and other pro-ILLEGAL alien moonbats I will gladly take my share of the credit, small as it may be. And do you really feel pushed around? You really are weak.
I couldn't help but notice that you completely ignored the facts contained in my last post, be it the fact that you are in a small minority with your defense of ILLEGAL invaders and the fact that your views conflict with that of the owner of this forum. Why is that? I asked you a question last post; does JR 'lack perspective' also? After all, he does not agree with you or liberals across America that we should be giving taxpayer funded subsidies to ILLEGAL aliens. Don't be a coward, answer the question.
You can continue your weak attacks on me; it doesn't bother me any more than it would if it were coming from the average liberal -- which it could. But you are attacking me for sharing the same opinion of the owner of this forum. Say what you will about me, but I would advise you to not attack the concept because it is his as well.
Have a nice night.
