Fascinating details of some of the passengers’ stories in the article. A very good read.

A press report at the time suggested that before the Titanic sank someone on deck shouted 'put in the brides and grooms first' and that was why the Snyders were saved.
I'll bet that "someone" was John Synder.

The Titanic was doomed as soon as they stated it was unsinkable. No way the Powers That Be were going to let that one pass.

The first comment in the comments section:

There is a growing consensus that Titanic was not destroyed by an iceberg but was sunk by a mystery gunboat. Witnesses on other ships have stated that they saw a powerful dark ship in the area where Titanic finally sank. Why would anybody do such a thing? Well, many have theorised that a large delegation of bankers opposed to the Federal Reserve were onboard the titanic enroute to the US to actively oppose the greatest evil ever founded to make war upon mankind. sounds about right to me.

Titanic Truthers.

“this photograph shows an iceberg in the distance - perhaps even the one that sank the luxury liner “

This was a fast, rogue iceberg calved by ... global warming. When will mankind wake up and smell the coffee?

I’m calling bs.

This was long before the “media age” of instant cameras and what not. Cameras were heavy pieces of equipment. Explain to me how a couple fled for their lives, exhausted from a night of rowing, listening to a night of screaming, sobbing and dying, finally being rescued and their thought was:

“Look, honey! A Kodak moment! Let’s get a picture!”

How exactly were they able to flee without damaging the camera and the film? Then to be developed clearly back when photo development methods were expensive and rudimentary compared to today’s methods? And then it somehow stays hidden for 99 years?

I’m not buying it. It’s photoshopped or a total hoax.

Wasn’t there a rule of “women and children first” in the lifeboats? That can’t be, this was well before the age of feminism. Men are the source off all things bad.

Cool!
It is interesting that the first story about the newly revealed photos says that 1,517 people died when the Titanic sank, but the story about the Straus couple that follows says 1,495 people were lost. I guess they’ll never know the exact number for certain - - after all, Jack Dawson’s name wasn’t listed on any manifest.

Dirk Pitt brought her back. She’s parked next to the Red October.
