WASHINGTON – A new AP-GfK poll shows that Americans have not found a Republican they'd clearly prefer over President Barack Obama. Yet half of adults say Obama does not deserve re-election next year,

Thirty percent of Republicans say they would most like to see former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as their nominee. Former pizza company executive Herman Cain is named by 26 percent. Texas Gov. Rick Perry runs third at 13 percent.

I looked at that bunch on the debate stage, and I have to concur with the public at large here. All the millions of eligible American citizens, and these were the best the GOP could come up with??? No.

Never understood why junior highschool level sneering and hyper knee jerk negativity got confused for wisdom around here. This sort of posting make the poser look like a childish clown not "the smartest guy in the room" as some of you seem to think.

Mindless sneering at everything is the sort of behavior one encounters in a high school locker room. We expect much more from the supposedly adult minds who post here.

Your statements indicate you have no clue at all what the candidates on the stage are about and merely sneering like a petulant child in the mistaken notion those tactics gives your postings the illusion of rational merit

The wording here is suspect to me. They make it sound as though there's no clear republican they prefer at the moment and will vote Obama.....yet, can't it also mean that out of the bunch, they just haven't picked their republican choice?

it will be up to us to unite behind whom we nominate... no matter what. Another 4 years of this Obama cr+p and we may never return to glory again. right now the media is loving the candidates beating each other up..... we can not let that fester as i c Newt has tried to moderate this... it’s ok to battle now but we must join in the crusade against the dictator in chief.

The election is likely to turn on the level of enthusiasm voters feel for the candidates. Obama’s base is notably lacking in enthusiasm, while Republican-leaving voters are generally upbeat. However, relatively few are upbeat about any one candidate, and those who favor one tend to disparage the others as unthinkable choices.

Of the first-tier group at the recent debate, Romney comes across to me as extremely unprincipled, Cain as extremely inexperienced, and Perry as extremely incoherent. I cannot imagine a voting majority being eager to cast a ballot for any of them, and I think that is what these poll numbers reflect. I gather you have a different opinion, and for the sake of the country, I do hope yours is the wiser one.
