At Las Vegas GOP debate, Mitt Romney to Newt: I got individual mandate idea from you!
Politico ^ | 10/19/2011

And, in the latest exchange over Romneycare, Mitt Romney pushed back on Newt Gingrich's criticisms of the plan as a flawed Big Government venture by saying, "Actually Newt we got the idea of the individual mandate from you."

Gingrich replied that that was false, and that it came from the Heritage Foundation.

When Romney pushed back asking if it was untrue that Gingrich once supported that, the former House Speaker acknowledged he had, against Hillarycare.

Romney, the clear frontrunner now, was ready for the attacks.

Newt is such a liar. How can one simultaneously deny something that he at least supported in the past and then at the same breath, admit he did?

What he should have done is simply admit it, and then say that he was wrong.

That's the reason why inspite of his overall excellent performance in the debates, Newt isn't gaining any traction. People know that he's just an old fashioned politicians who speaks from both side of his mouth.

To be honest with you, I was warming up to Newt until that exchange. Now it is between Cain and Perry. Perry put himself back in contention for my vote with the line about defunding the UN. I hope he follows up on that with a concrete plan.

Arguing the validity of the individual mandate in socialized medicine is like arguing that socialism is an A-OK system as long there are sufficient government rules in place to require individual responsibility.

Real conservatives don't go there.

Those people in the MSM who are moderating these debates are laughing their asses off as to how the GOP fell for the idea of having these debates.

These debates should have been moderated by people in the GOP who would act in the best interests of the Party as a whole, and not the MSM, who only wants to tear the entire party down.

That’s why we call the GOP, “The Stupid Party.”

“Perry put himself back in contention for my vote with the line about defunding the UN”

Perry just isn't the “slickest” debater. Does that reflect on his ability to be a good President? Probably in some ways; but other things are much more important.

I think it's also important to recognize that Perry actually has to deal with the illegal immigration issue for real. None of the others have had to.
It's easy to say you should do this or do that when it's not real to you.
The whole thing of saying we need a physical fence along the entire border seems silly.
We need to secure the border. We could secure it tomorrow without a fence.
It's political posturing of the other candidates to insist we need a fence along the entire border.
What we need is armed people there now, and fencing in certain areas.
And people like Mitt Romney not to hire illegals.
I will darn sure ask any contractor if he has any illegals working for him.

"Romney, the clear frontrunner now, was ready for the attacks."

In the minds of the Libtards maybe, but certainly not in the polls.

RE :"Newt is such a liar. How can one simultaneously deny something that he at least supported in the past and then at the same breath, admit he did?"

Newt's chances of being POTUS have always been ~ 0% so why doesnt he just be honest and explain what his views were and why?

His last big achievement was 1994 and its been downhill after that.

RE: Perry just isn’t the “slickest” debater. Does that reflect on his ability to be a good President?

_______________

To the exgtent the President needs to effectively communicate his policies, ideas and values to the nation and the world, the ability to communicate is an absolute necessity.

Unfortunately, Perry is relatively tongue tied in this regard.

He should more passion last night, but is still way behind compared to the others.

“I will darn sure ask any contractor if he has any illegals working for him.”

That so called ‘contractor’ was a friend of Romney's from his church. He knew for years that illegals were working at his house every week, for years!

Romney is a POS liar.

So does this make Newt Mitt’s ‘stalking horse’ of the week? It’s hard for me to keep up. ;-)

I would never vote for perry or Romney. They both will let all illegals stay and suck off of our weak economy.
