We could AFFORD these jobs locally, but for two reasons: 1)Unions have raised the costs exponentially
2)LOCAL public safety jobs are NO BUSINESS OF THE FED's, and the taxpayers will pay for their LOCAL needs, NOT for the bloated major city drug-infested, crime-infested, Democrat-controlled parasitic population driving up costs without local tax revenues.
Neither are teachers. If we had a thriving private sector, there would be more money to pay for both.
