Broadcast time: 8pm EDT/5pm PDT
The Candidates:
Michele Bachmann
Bachmann is serving her 3rd full term in the U.S. House. Founder of the House Tea Party Caucus, worked as a tax attorney, and was a foster mother for 23 teenagers. She is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Herman Cain
Cain is the former chief executive of Godfather's Pizza and former chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He lost the Georgia Republican primary for a U.S. Senate seat in 2004. He was recently the host of Atlanta-based radio show.
Newt Gingrich
Gingrich served as Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. He represented Georgia's 6th congressional district as a Republican member from 1979 to 1999. He has a PhD in modern European history.
Ron Paul
Paul is serving his 11th full term in the U.S. House. Hes an ob-gyn and was Libertarian nominee for president in 1988. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 2008
Rick Perry
Perry is the three term governor of Texas, from 2000 to current. He is a retired Air Force captain for former farmer. He has a degree in animal science.
Mitt Romney
Romney was governor of Massachusetts (2003 to 2007) and former CEO of Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican 2008 nomination for president. He has an MBA (Harvard) and JD (Harvard Law).
Rick Santorum
Santorum served two terms in the U.S. House and two terms in the U.S. Senate. He became the Senate's third-ranking Republican in 2001. He was defeated for reelection in 2006.
On substance Santorum's call-outs was right on target, Mitt was shifty and Perry sounded like a six grade debater. Cain needs to lose the national sales tax portion of his 9-9-9.
Sarah is on Greta.
RuPaul attacked RR.
Agreed. Newt won again. He is the only statesman there.
Cain held strong.
Perry did better, but I was embarrassed for him for a different reason this time... he came off as a jerk at times.
Michelle needs to go back to Congress. Why is she still there embarrassing herself as she does? I love her, but...
Romney did not do as well as he has in the past. He was rattled several times.
Santorum made some good points, but he is churlish.
Ron Paul was Paul.
He picked up on what Newt said, about all the bickering not being the "road to the White House." Gergen agreed, saying there was a lot of bickering amongst the candidates, so that's a good thing for Obama.
Gergan totally ignores the fact the all the questions and the entire format of the debate was structured to elicit bickering. Gergan is a dick.
All he does is attack various people and talk about values. No substance. No plan. He’s like a nasty Chihuahua nipping at everyone’s ankles. Ick.
You just never get tired of posting that video, do you?
Keep your friends close..... your enemies closer.
Palin on live on FOX and there is still sun on the Mountrins in Alaska. You can’t even do that in Texas at this hour my friend.
“I got $10 that says you will get crickets on the names.
I asked for a name and a specific statement that “hated mormons”.
I’ve been around for a long time and I’ve yet to see either.
Many of us dislike any cult that perverts the Bible’s truth.
That doesn’t mean we oppose the right of religious freedom of
others to worship whoever or whatever they wish. It also means
we also have the right to speak out about our own faith.
They don’t like that part...
Newt’s problem is that he seems to lose focus sometimes and works against conservatives.
1. Newt and Pelosi on the sofa
2. Man made global warming support
3. De De Scozzafava and the NY RINOs
4. Bashing Paul Ryan’s plan
5. Newt’s Pal Al Sharpton
Not to mention his many personal indiscretions. Newt is not really a people person, but he has an intellect.
I don’t hate Mormons, well except Romney but I hate him for other reasons.
I feel genuine sorrow for Mormons, they are hamsters spinning on a wheel going nowhere while they think they are earning their salvation and Godhood.
We need a three person Presidency, just as an experiment: Cain, Gingrich, Palin.
Cain is a BSer When will he explain those 333 plans for inner city “empowerment zones” or his dependance on the “Super Committee”?
7 3-hour debates with Newt and obama would be a beautiful thing to behold. obama would never consent to it. I suppose he could claim ‘time constraints’....he had to run a country...but what are we to believe....his tee-time is a restrictive?
Cain Hussein with a Cane!
I would like to see Cain/Gingrich.
WOW! Are you sitting there in Mommy's basement keeping count of when other FReepers post?
That's pretty damn close to STALKING!
Reaganaut is traveling cross-country right now, so you can give up on your being able to peep into her bedroom window!
The up side is the more Romney talks, the worse it gets for him.
