Didn’t take long for Anderson Cooper to take an audience question and pit two candidates against each other (first Q to Bachmann regarding federal sales tax).

Right. I would love a real debate where each candidate gets the same question, and each gives his own answer and contends with the others' answers.

True, there would only be time for a few questions, but then again, who wants to hear those from Twitter, Facebook, etc?

It only took Congress two years to begin finagling the original IRS rates.

Early IRS rates:

Year $10,001 $20,001 $60,001 $100,001 $250,001 $500,001 $1,000,000
1913 1% 2% 3% 5% 6% 7% 7%
1914 1% 2% 3% 5% 6% 7% 7%
1916 2% 3% 5% 7% 10% 12% 13%
1918 16% 21% 41% 64% 72% 76% 77%
1920 12% 17% 37% 60% 68% 72% 73%

I’m waiting for another “gay soldier” to pop out of the audience to ask a question.

Because as we all know, the most pressing question facing our economically troubled nation is the emotional well-being and complete satisfaction of gay people. /s

Cain looks good on the first rejoinder. I wish he would have hit the idea that it is not a VAT a little harder. But a great answer

Mitt Romney - Touts the “Games” and begins by lying claiming he solved “Massachusetts problems”.

He also lied about being a businessman for 25 years. I just checked and he is lying.

“You know I’m a tax attorney.”

Two of the most despised things in this country, taxes and lawyers. Throw in politician and she has the trifecta.

Let's add to your excellent questions:

5) Empowerment zones are already an exception to the taxes. How many others will there be?

6) As a practical reality, how is Cain going to sell this package politically to seniors who pay no income tax and will be hit with a 9% sales tax, and to homeowners who can barely pay their mortgages and will be hit with losing interest deductions?

7) I set the odds that a Republican Congress will pass a national sales tax at 1 in 500. If this part fails, how will the other 9's be adjusted?

8) If Congress decides not to pass the part forcing a 2/3 vote to increase taxes, will he sign the plan? What will happen if Congress does approve the 2/3 part and a later Congress by a simple majority removes it?

I think the term "down in flames" describes the future of 9-9-9. Ron Paul's solution of slashing the government is a long shot, but ultimately a better approach than Cain's focus on raising revenue.
