"... Perry killed his own chances with his own crap style and crap views on immigration."

That is your crap view - not Perry's. Perry's 'views' on immigration have been amply stated and acted on in Texas.

In short, Perry is against "sanctuary cities" for illegal immigrants and favors legislation that would allow local officers to request information on a person's immigration status - and be enabled to throw illegals back across the border once those officers see that someone is here illegally.

He favored a Texas law that allows the children of illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition rates at Texas colleges and universities. NOTE carefully, they must PAY. They are not a drain on either the state of Texas or the US taxpayer. In fact, they contribute to the education establishment.

As governor of Texas, Perry increased security operations along the border with Mexico and increased funding for border security. He doesn't favor a fence, but he wants the FEDS to do their job, which isn't being done.

He has used state police to protect the border from Mexican drug cartels, and has repeatedly asked the FEDS to do more to secure our borders - not just in Texas, but all of it, both north and south.

” NOTE carefully, they must PAY.”

A special reduced rate. Cause it would be “heartless” to make them pay full price. That signifies a namby pamby Bush-style attitude on the whole thing.

And it’s not “children of illegal immigrants” we are talking about here cause if they were born here they are citizens (unfortunately under current flawed interpretation of the law) and if they are residents of Texas they get the reduced rate like any other citizen. These are actual illegal immigrants we are talking about. Ones brought here as children by their parents. It’s not their fault, I wouldn’t deport them if they lived here their whole life but they can’t be given special benefits. Their parents’ crimes cannot be rewarded and it’s not right that a non-American citizen who resides in Texas gets cheaper college but a citizen from across the border in Oklahoma would have to pay full. That’s disgusting.
