Gilad Shalit, the Israel soldier held captive for five years by Hamas, has been freed today in Gaza in return for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

It is time to stop the aid to Israel and Egypt. They are both insane. The first have become surrender monkeys and the other are blood thirsty murderers. In fact, stop all Foreign Aid. Now.
I’m with you — this is a foolish exchange prompted by short-term political pressures and sentiment.
Sure anyone would “want” Shalit released, but to trade 1,000+ Pali terrorists for him is simply insane.
Some number of those scumbags will go on to kill many more innocent Israelis.
Shalit’s life and freedom are won at the cost of innumerable future deaths and maimings.
The human cost will not be small and it will mount for years to come. One life was saved, yes, but many many more have been sacrificed.
Also, the terrorists of Hamas and the PA have been emboldened. This rewards terrorism. I cannot believe Bibi of all people would do this.

Here’s some comments about his health and condition....keep in mind he had not been seen by Israel Dr.s when he did the Egytian interview.....
Schalit — the first Israeli soldier returned home alive in 26 years — had not been seen in public since his capture....
Among those around Schalit in those first moments was Ahmed Jabari, the shadowy head of Hamas’ militant wing, one of Israel’s most wanted militants.
Shalit actually walked free on Tuesday,..... The gaunt, sallow and uncomfortable looking Schalit appeared to struggle to speak at times, during an Egytian news interview.....(Israeli security officials told Israeli YNet News that the interview was a violation of the deal for Schalit’s release.)
His breathing was noticeably labored as he awkwardly answered questions.......”he seemed extremely tired, thin and pale, voice very faint, very difficult to concentrate. I had to repeat the questions several times,”.... Amin, his Egyptian interviewer stated to The Associated Press.
So .... frail he passed out on the helicopter ride home,......he showed signs of malnutrition and lack of exposure to the sun.....the last few years in “isolation”.......”After a medical examination, Israeli officials said Schalit showed signs of malnutrition......
The circumstances of his release, along with the awkward TV interview, raised questions about the conditions the 25-year-old had endured. Since Shalit’s capture Hamas has not allowed Shalit to receive visits by the International Committee of the Red Cross
“Hello Gilad, it’s so good to have you home,” Netanyahu told the freed soldier.
“Sorry I am so weak,” Shalit told Netanyahu.
Meanwhile the Palestinians:
In Gaza City, tens of thousands crammed into an open lot where a huge stage was set up, decorated with a mural depicting Schalit’s capture in a June 2006 raid on an army base near the Gaza border.
The crowd exhorted militants to seize more soldiers for future swaps.
To Hamas, the militant Palestinian group which controls Gaza, the prisoner swap deal is being portrayed as a great victory....prisoners and demonstrators made glaring demands for more soldier kidnappings to bring home the thousands of Palestinians who remain in Israeli prisons.
Hamas turned Tuesday’s celebration in Gaza into a show of strength for the Islamic militant movement.
He is so thin and frail looking, no expression on his face.
Heaven knows what they did to him all this time.
Yeah, they certainly didn’t improve his conditions while they were anticipating making this deal.
In the meantime, the Palestinian prisoners looked healthy
Let’s hope this Munich 1938 by the Israelis doesn’t wind up turning into a Munich 1972 for them.
I am not an Israeli.
I don’t live there.
I have not been victimized daily by fear and struggled for decades after many holocausts to keep my country alive.
I and my countrymen are not militarily defending this country daily with boots on the ground.
I therefore have nothing to say about what Israeli’s do to keep up their strength and courage in the face of evil....except to give them my undivided support.
The release has meaning—whether they agree or not with the action—only for Israelis. I would not as an observer, or an “expert” to deign to criticize the release.
During his intitial interview he was dis-associating a lot...has trouble with eye contact...usually indicates he’s likely compartmentalized much that’s happened to him.
Very sad he passed out in the plane..but understandable..I doubt he’s in good shape at all...mentally he’s certainly got a rode ahead to straighten that out.
If you read what isolation does to the mind then his behavior pretty much shows that....
His steady starring off tells me he’s dissociating...and likely now has this as an established coping mechanism from things being said and done to him.
This behavior is how we are designed when trauma etc. completely overwhelm the mind...the person simply leaves the momenin his mind...to endure whatever.
Considering he was nineteen when captured...and his first years were full of various tortures etc. He’s got a whole lot of mental work ahead to be himself again.
Soldiers who have been brutalized and in terrorists captivity are prone for suicide.
Palestinians already announced they would make kidnapping Israeli soldiers a priority.
