” Im simply amazed that hes still alive.”
Yes, me too.
Not only does Shalit have to try to heal from his 5 yrs in captivity, but he’s going to have to deal with resentments from Israelis, including the friends & families of victims of terrorist acts perpetrated by some of the Palestinians exchanged for him, not to mention guilt he may feel.
He has a lot to deal with psychologically/emotionally
“And the hunt for the next Israeli hostages will begin as soon as Shalit is released.”
I heard a report that the released palestinians were greeted with crowds calling for finding another Shalit.
I’m sure Netanyahu isn’t surprised by that.
In a sane world, no one would target him with their resentment. He, himself, did not negotiate the terms of his release. And whatever feelings of relief or thankfulness he should feel today, when free, should not be turned against him.
But, the world is a very complex place. This issue is highly emotionally charged. It will continue to be controversial for a very long time.
My hope is that his he and his family can find some privacy and space where they’re allowed to simply be together and move on with their lives.
We’ll have to see how everything unfolds in the future and how it impacts his life down the road. I don’t think we’ve heard the last about Shalit.
“13.09 In Gaza, one of the released Hamas leaders, Yehiye Sinwar, called on the group’s military wing to kidnap more Israeli soldiers in order to free the remaining prisoners in Israeli jails, ... :
“We shall spare no efforts to liberate the rest of our brothers and sisters.
We urge the Al Qassam Brigades (the Hamas military wing) to kidnap more soldiers to exchange them for the freedom of our loved ones who are still behind bars.” “
Now, detonate the explosives surgically implanted in all of those recently released terrorists!
This is insane. A suicide wish. That’s all I can say.
“Many more innocent Israelis will die by the hands of those they released.”
It does seem that Israelis seem to have a built in self destruction switch at times.
This release is an obscenity. If a single Israeli child is killed by one of these monsters, the selfish Shilit family should be deported. It is sickening how his Shalit’s father has made a huge political movement to do this, and more sickening still that the Israeli people bought into it, but most sickening that Bibi actually DID it. Shame on them all.
Israel values appeasement. It leads to the futher LOSS of life. The Muslim enemy respects only brutal justice exacted upon them. The kind Joshua exacted on his enemies. Israel is no longer worthy of him. Disgusting.
My advice: get Shalit first and then execute the Palis who were supposed to be “released”. That is the only lesson the Palis understand.
You seem to think that Arab scumbags are in short supply.
ML/NJ
If you look at previous swaps of Muzzies for Israeli citizens/soldiers you will see a huge wave of Muzzie terrorism against Israel that follows.
In the mean time the Leftist Israeli government will continue its campaign to persecute right-wing Jews without end.
Israel failed to hunt down Shalit’s captures and free him when they went into Gaza in Operation Cast Lead in 2008.
This lopsided deal was the result of that failure.
Including the ridiculous uniforms?
What this means is that kidnapping is a nice political tool for the Palestinians. Every time an exchange happens, it encourages more kidnappings.
I am glad the solider is home, but some of the people released will go on to kill again. Not a good exchange.
And Netanyahu should be prosecuted for murder; but what would replace him; probably some leftist. Israel seems to be losing the will to survive.
They should have put microchips in the prisoners to track them with GPS, I mean target them with GPS.
It is time to stop the aid to Israel and Egypt. They are both insane. The first have become surrender monkeys and the other are blood thirsty murderers. In fact, stop all Foreign Aid. Now.
