Ron Pauls opinions about cutting the budget are well-known, but on Monday, he got specific: The Texas congressman laid out a budget blueprint for deep and far-reaching cuts to federal spending, including the elimination of five Cabinet-level departments and the drawdown of American troops fighting overseas.
Theres even a symbolic readjustment of the presidents salary to put it in line with the average American salary.
Our debt is too big, our government is too big, and we have to recognize how serious the problem is, Paul said during an afternoon speech in Las Vegas ahead of Tuesdays GOP debate there.
The plan, Paul said, would cut $1 trillion in spending his first year in the White House and create a balanced federal budget by the third year of his presidency.
All the current candidates and many in Washington, they sort of talk around [the problem], Paul said. A lot of people will say, well cutting a trillion dollars in one year is radical. Well, I operate under the assumption that the radicals have been in charge for way too long.

I respect Paul’s opinions and thoughts about Liberty and what keeps free people free. I would cut DoE, TSA/Homeland, and I like the idea of cutting 40% from FDA. We do not need FDA to tell us which drugs to take, we can read the known literature and consult with doctors and experts so long as drug makers don’t withhold info as that would be fraud. I would cut IRS to fit a simple tax code that is 1 page long. I would cut EPA by 70%. I would end the WOD. So yes I agree a lot with Paul.
But I also believe we must honor our commitments and see our endeavors through. A phased approach to foreign affairs is in order, imho, not an immediate cut and run policy. So I disagree somewhat there.
But if I needed to put 1 person in charge of safeguarding my liberty, Paul would be on the very short list.
The $200,000 to recruit a nurse practitioner for a local clinic doesn’t bother you?
Do you believe that airplanes brought down the World Trade Center towers?
Yes or no.
Singled out a federal agency? Just one? I can start with 10.
Border security should be put under defense, and the DHS should be eliminated.
Look back on what the Founders have said on foreign relations, how is his view extremist?
Note: I’m not a Ron Paul supporter.
Odumbass increased spending by over a $trillion per year- how hard could it be to just go back to 2008 spending levels and FREEZE IT THERE until the debt is paid off.
Only in Washington is a smaller increase called a ‘cut’ in spending.
I see where the Department of the Interior goes away. What happens to the National Park System? Does all that property get sold off?

Yes, and so does Ron Paul
He has simply (more politely) said that The 9/11 Report is a CYA (Cover Your A**) document where no one lost their job for failing to protect this country. I agree. I've written many of those for the corporations I worked for, over the years, and I know one when I see one.
Who knows since even the 9/11 Commissioners say that FEDGOV is lying its a$$ off about 9/11.
The 9/11 Commission doesn't believe it, why do you?
Remember, FEDGOV and the Corporate Media lie about EVERYTHING. Here's a perfect example. FEDGOV and the Corporate Media claim on TV that NATO is preventing the slaughter of innocent civilians in Lybia while in reality NATO and its Al-Qaeda proxy army have and continue to this day the slaughter of innocent civilians in Lybia. Why people who consider themselves to be intelligent, infromed adults still give credence to what the FEDGOV and the Corporate Media say on any issue is beyond me.
Even Rush Limbaugh is now on board with Ron Paul's Economic Plan:
Rush says at this juncture America must understand whats at stakeand that Ron Pauls plan is the only plan that seriously addresses our current fiscal crisis.
Rush said recently: Ron Paul has a good idea fooling around the margins isnt going to get it done genuine big spending cuts are the only thing that is going to bring us back.

Note: I couldn't get HTML to work.
For other cabinet departments he's doing away with, Paul identifies what functions are being retained under other departments. He doesn't do that for the Park Service, and I suppose the whole park system itself conflicts with his libertarian beliefs.
Thank you so very much! No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t get HTML to work for me.
I have allot of respect for the work Ron Paul's done over the years.
Paul's latest proposal has certainly raised my eyebrows. 1 Trillion in cuts...1st year? Yeah!
Cut all these insane federal (non-constitutionally mandated departments)....yeah!
Audit the Federal Reserve.....uh, hell yeah!
I want someone to address the loss of liberties over the last few decades. I want a person that sees government as the monstrosity that it is.
Cut federal government by 10%....1st year? I'm thinking, go Paul.
As far as cut and run. We have been in Iraq and Afghanistan for over ten years.......this IS NOT cut and run.
We need to bring sanity back into this whole foreign policy thing. We are broke. We cannot afford anymore interventions.
The constitution provides for intervention in foreign lands when our national security is at stake. Afghanistan? Uganda? Libya? Really? I mean really?
Why in hell would you want to allow Iran to have nukes? An analogy: Sure you want to allow everyone to keep and bear arms, but you also want to have background checks on people to make sure felons aren’t getting guns. Iran is this “Felon” and to allow them to own arms detrimental to the world is just plain stupid and crazy.
Much better than the Nein Nein Nein plan. Real Cuts. Balanced Budget in THREE years.
YES YES YES
