The standard portrayal of the Wall Street protesters goes something like this: Ragtag group of unemployed young adults, venting often incoherent but overall legitimate populist outrage about economic inequality. But go down to the movements headquarters, as I did this past weekend, and you see something far different.
Its not just that knowledge of their oppressors -- the evil bankers -- is pretty thin, or that many of them are clearly college kids with nothing better to do than embrace the radical chic of a cause. I found a unifying and increasingly coherent ideology emerging among the protesters, which at its core has less to do with the evils of the banking business and more about the evils of capitalism -- and the need for a socialist revolution.
Its not an overstatement to describe Zuccotti Park as New Yorks Marxist epicenter. Flags with the iconic face of the Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara are everywhere; the only American flag I saw was hanging upside down. The occupiers openly refer to each other as comrade, and just about every piece of literature on offer (free or for sale) advocated socialism in the Marxist tradition as a cure-all for the inequalities of the American economic system.
Dont try to explain to any of these protesters how those who sought to create a Marxist utopian dream of revolution also gave us the Stalinist purges, Maos bloody Cultural Revolution and many other efforts to collectivize thought in the name of economic justice.
One woman was holding a Nationalize the Federal Reserve sign; I tried to explain that the Fed is already nationalized, because its part of government, and she told me to go check my f--king facts -- its privately owned.

The word Bolshevik means "big" or "majority"
(Russian: Большеви́к IPA: [bəlʲʂɨˈvʲik], derived from bolshinstvo, "majority" were a faction of the Marxist Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (RSDLP) which split apart from the Menshevik (Minority) faction at the Second Party Congress in 1903 and ultimately became the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
It is ironic that Obama hasn’t in their opinion gone far enough to turn the US into a socialist state and many of the economic woes they complain about like the bailouts are Obama policies.

I say just ignore the stupid idiots. I wanna see how tough these punks are when the first foot of snow falls on ‘em.
A Alberta Clipper Cold front will clear up what Mayor Bloomnut can’t. I don’t want to hear he needs a bailout from this bs.
Those Useful Idiots would already be gone, except that they are on some communist group’s payroll.
I don't think that word means what you think it means. You're referring to the ancient Greek father of Medicine, author of the Hippocratic Oath.
Other than that, you're right on, and they are scamming hypocrites.
As I recall, they were not actually a majority of the leftists, but we all know Orwell was right.
Also, I recall that through the revolution (1917, not 1905) they never had more than roughly 15% of the population on their “side”.
Back in the early 1960s, I asked my then Congressman--a staunch anti-Communist, and ranking Republican on the House Unamerican Activities Committee--to ask the Committee staff, then very knowledgeable about Communism, how many Bolsheviks there were, 18 months earlier, in early 1916. The number was 10,000!
One must never underestimate the potential that 10,000 dedicated crack-pots, employing the tactics of a skilled agitation, have for absolute mischief. Of course, the Bolsheviks exploited the terrible losses of men & material assets that Russia sustained in World War I. Our contemporary Leftists do not yet have so great a disaster to exploit. But, on the other hand, they have the benefit of an indoctrination into Marxist/Egalitarian premises, that has been afflicting American College, High School & Grade School, students for two generations.
The answer, of course, is to activate those tens of thousands who understand the evil that is afoot.
The issue is not the bankers, recession, unemployment, poverty, wealth, or anything other than the continued existence of the American people, as a functioning concept--with working roots, principles & multi-generational purpose. Those pulling the strings of the useful idiots, around the world, mean to destroy every thing we value.
William Flax Truth Based Logic
Pulling the strings, are those who have taken seriously the false premises of the Left--the egalitarian/collectivism, which claims to be promoting "social justice & diversity." (See, for refutation of the propaganda, 'Social Justice'--What Is Not Social & Not Just.)

I always thought it meant populist or peoples party. Thanks for the info.
