And his peers unanimously liked him, describing him as a charismatic leader.
Right away I liked him, McQuillian, the Nebraska banker said. He had a positive personality very outgoing, very engaging guy, just impressive.
As chairman, his former colleagues said, he was a strong but collaborative leader who asked questions and encouraged maximum participation among board members.
He had a very take-charge sort of style, but one who looks for agreement among others, said Jerry Shreeves, a senior vice president at the Kansas City Fed during that time who attended board meetings with Cain. He didnt drive things down anybodys throat I thought he was good at bringing people together.
McQuillian said Cain was a team player, and not overly aggressive but at the end of the day, I kind of knew who was in charge.
We would take a break halfway through the meeting, he said, which typically lasted about 4 hours. To hurry us along, [Cain] always said, please be back and seated in 9 minutes. Hed smile when he said this.
And even though monetary policy wasnt his career, Cain made himself knowledgeable about Fed policy and always asked tough questions.
Everybody liked Herman because his personality was so open and friendly and not abrasive, said Barry Robinson, a public affairs officer at the Kansas City Fed who remembered Cain from board meetings.
He wasnt reluctant to ask questions of the presenters [at meetings], mostly Ph.D. economists, said Robinson. He was absorbing, he was intellectually curious and his comments were almost always, you know, humorous and to the point.

herman’s got my vote.
I met and shook hands with Herman Cain recently at one of his book tours. He is a even more impressive looking/sounding in person, I must say, than on TV. Very professional, sharp, and polished. I don’t feel TV does him justice.
Compared to the snotty, condescending punk we have in the WH right now, business with Herman would be a welcome change to having an gracious adult in charge again.
Praying for Cain’s continued success.
Those attributes are the hallmarks of a good leader and a great President.
Ping please
The more I learn about Mr. Cain, the better I like him.
I think that if he gets into the Oval Office, he will surround himself with the brightest, most conservative advisors that he can find. I think that has been his way of doing things throughout his life.
One thing’s for darned sure—he will bring honor and dignity back to both the Office of president, and to the White House.
I think that’s why the media wants him to name his advisors and possible cabinet members now. So they can get a head start on digging up stuff on them ‘cause they(the media) already know they will be conservative.
Amen! I made a donation yesterday and encourage everyone to do so. He’s gonna need lots of cash.
As I read and hear more about Herman Cain, it's becoming clear to me that Mr. Cain is a brilliant executive possessing strong character and high morals.
Executive experience in the private sector has always been near the top of my long list of qualifications for POTUS and Herman Cain appears to be a natural born leader.
I've been waiting to hear from ex-colleagues' take on Cain. I'm glad to see this. Just surprised by the source.
Compare these comments with those of Obama’s teaching peers when he was at Harvard.
Ask and ye shall receive.
Ping for the Cain Train Pinglist!
