Really sick people. These are worse than Episcopalians. We should convert them all (including the pope) and make them join a Christian church. Enough of all this medieval nonsense which the Catholics foist on us. Has anyone else noticed that it is the Catholics who are socialists in many parts of the world? The danger of Catholicism is that they will foist socialism on all of us. Remember that Michael Moore is a Catholic and a socialist.

Interesting assertion you’ve got there that the church founded by Jesus Christ himself is not Christian.

Is this a caucus thread for your Cult of the Revealed Moron?
I wouldn’t want to offend your sensibilities, such as they are, without checking to see if you intend this to be a devotional thread.

The source for this is the BBC. Just bear that in mind.

“... you would believe this story???”
Not once in the article did I see “anonymous sources”, instead names are given, places are documented, pictures of individuals who have taken DNA tests. Unfortunately for Christians, not just Catholics, this appears to be true and will be a tool to discredit Catholicism and also, Christianity.

We should convert them all (including the pope) and make them join a Christian church. Quite an overdeveloped sense of freedom you have there Jim. /S
Lets force them to join a Christian church.
Besides denying people their First Amendment rights you are denying Christ free offer of salvation.
Christ offers salvation free to all which means that they are also free to reject salvation.
Dont flirt with sacrilege Jim.

Catholics are indeed often socialist, which is why I can’t figure out why believers so often claim that we atheists can’t be proper conservatives.

Be careful of the sources. The Daily Mail is close to being a redtop scandal mag and the BBC has a bias against the Catholic Church.
I don't like the model of Falangist Spain except that for a dictatorship, it was relatively tolerant and Protestants and Jews could worship in freedom. This may have been a function of the government and society as a whole.

Catholics are indeed often socialist,
Being a Jesuit-educated Episcopalian (so I guess a two-time loser for the purposes of this thread), people need to recall that the RCC's movement to Socialism is a reaction to the abuses the Church has engaged in over the centuries.
For instance, the Jesuits who taught the various theology and history classes I took didn't like my pointing out that their explicit (so something they actually stated) embrace of Liberation Theology as atonement for the Church's membership in Central/South American "Iron Triangles" (coalition of the Church, wealthy landowners and dictatorial strongmen designed to keep the peasants in their proper place) was a complete overreaction that would ultimately do much more harm than good ...

I’m sure your explanation of the phenomenon is correct. My only point is that Christianity and conservatism are not synonymous — despite what some Freepers claim.

I can believe that the RC church did take babies away from teen moms for more qualified parents to raise. The times allowed for this.
However, it’s highly doubtful that any money exchanged probably did not pay for palatial second homes on some tropical beach. It likely paid for the expenses of caring for the teen mom and any unadopted children.
It’s unlikely any of it went into the coffers of Rome.
