Raisin' [a Few Issues for the Purpose of Honestly Vetting Herman] Cain!
The American Thinker ^ | October 16, 2011 | Joseph Ashby

Posted on 10/16/2011 2:32:45 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

"I'm the only problem-solver in the group," Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain told Mike Huckabee in an August Fox News appearance. Well, many candidates bill themselves as problem-solvers. In fact, if we asked any candidate running for any office in the entire country, practically every one would likely define him- or herself as able to solve problems. Yet we know that politicians, as a rule, create and worsen problems rather than fix them.

.....Overconfidence turns the hopeful campaign pronouncements of otherwise successful people into dismal policy. In the end, Americans usually end up with more laws, less freedom, and no money.

The question is what type of problem-solver Cain will be as president......

Examining Herman Cain's record leaves serious questions about which type of problem-solver he is. In a column published October 20, 2008, Cain blamed conservatives' "economic illiteracy" for their opposition to the freshly passed Trouble Assets Relief Program.

"Wake up people!" admonished Cain with typical candor. "Owning a part of the major banks in America is not a bad thing. We could make a profit while solving a problem." Cain goes on to defend Treasury's decision to post-legislatively change TARP to buy preferred stock in banks rather than toxic mortgages. "You got a problem with that?" asks Cain. Apparently he didn't.

Cain reassures "free market purists" that the Treasury's stock purchase is "not nationalization because that would require government to own at least 51% of the entity for an indefinite period of time." (This is a relief, because some of us thought that government would use this foot in the door to force mergers, control salaries, and set lending rules. Oh, wait...)...

It’s not my plan, have Cain explain how that works.

>> Cain is giving tax exemptions to families living in low income minority neighborhoods and tax credits to low income individuals to offset any possible national sales tax they might have to pay...So no, not EVERYONE will be paying the 9% national sales tax. Only middle class and upper class families.

It’s getting complicated. I thought 9-9-9 was supposed to be simple? You know... just a single rate that everyone pays on everything? But apparently Cain engineered his own “social engineering” into his plan, too.

ABC, black is second and conservative is a distant third.

I don’t know of a single conservative that lives in the ghetto, or any that thinks they should get any special tax breaks.

I don't understand why any conservative would stand for a new line of federal revenue for the federal government to provide all those expanded federally-run social services and federal entitlements to those who won't have to pay taxes anyway when Cain's exemptions for low income minorities take place.

Whether or not they support Cain, all fiscal conservatives should be rising up against this liberal tax and spend gimmick and not let him include those things in his 999 plan.

The FACT is he never has said he was AGAINST TARP.
ONLY that it was implemented wrong.

Cain will never get a chance to include anything. The plan will be rejected and Cain along with it. When you base your campaign on a gimmick, you fail with it.

Rewriting history, was that statement timed and date stamped. And yes, he and the very liberal governor that cosigned it were supporting tarp.

Are you really that stupid that you equate Cain’s being on the board of one of the Reserve banks as the same as dictating the Federal Reserve policies?

Seems (I'll not repeat your "really that stupid" comment) a lot of FReepers equate Perry being governor of one of the border states as the same as dictating Federal Immigration policies.

Your approach, this political season trashing recklessly any candidate you don’t endorse, is working for the democrat agenda: wittingly or unwittingly?

Look to your own method of "debate."

LOL!

It took me every bit of 15 minutes to figure out what GSY was! I was going through this thread and all the threads I posted on yesterday to see who had the screen name that would fit “GSY”, looking to see if I had upset someone, but.......

THEN I REMEMBERED! hahahahahahahaha

Yep, I’m still here, and I have another one entitled “Stupid is as stupid does” for just the right person!

Thanks for the laugh!

FReepers don’t need your spin. All the facts are dated, quoted and quite easy to follow.

If you don't tax the poor too then the point is moot. It also means it cannot be revenue neutral.

Well, hon, the only candidate I’ll trash at this stage is Milt Romeny (rhymes with hominy) because he is detritus, garbage, trash, refuse to be taken out and dumped. I’m getting sick of sycophants who supposedly support their choice by trashing every other candidate. I see liars claiming they are Cain supporters trashing Rick Perry in hateful ways, even attacking his wife! That’s not a supporter of a conservative Christian candidate doing that , it’s an agitprop. I see supposed Perry syocphants nsulting Cain supporters, trashing Herman Cain with nauseating deceits. That’s not a Perry supporter, that’s an anti-Republican agitprop! I read posters trashing Bachmann ... she is an elected gongresswoman with above average intelligence and ideas for saving this Republic. I read trash talkers slamming Rick Snatorum, the most pro-life Seantor in deacdes, a man who stood up to the outrageous lies of Hillary and Boxer in Senate debates where partial birth infanticide was being defended by the sick democrats. None of these ‘ardent’ efforts to destroy a conservative Republican is getting anything done except nominating the least conservative candidate who is the chosen one of the republican elites, namely Milt ‘the closet socilalist’ Romney. ... And you want me to ‘look to my own methods?’ Riiiiight
