A pumped-up Herman Cain is promising a rock em, sock em takedown of Republican presidential rival Mitt Romney, saying hes already got the Bay State governor on the run and can deliver a knockout at Tuesday nights debate because voters cant get excited about (Romneys) leadership.
He got a little defensive last time, so he knows Herman is going to come after him, Cain said during a phone interview with the Herald yesterday. We are in a contest here. We are in a battle.
Cain, who has surged to the front of the crowded Republican presidential pack, already locked on to Romney during a debate at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., last week. The former Godfathers Pizza CEO asked Romney to name all of the 59 points in his economic recovery plan.
Romney struck back, telling Cain that sometimes simple answers are inadequate.
Cain said the unsatisfying response was snippy and dismissive, and said he will push Romney on his overly complex 160-page plan again at an upcoming debate in Nevada.
Im going after Romney only on his economic plan because thats where he is a little weak, Cain said. I think it kind of caught him off guard a little bit. The problem with his 59-point plan is youre talking about something thats never going to pass.
Cains Republican rivals have made the same charge against the Georgians famous 9-9-9 plan, which would eliminate different tax rates and implement a flat 9 percent tax on corporations, incomes, and sales. Voters in states where there is no sales tax, such as New Hampshire, would reject a sudden 9 percent hike, argued former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, another Republican presidential candidate.
They are making an invalid comparison, said Cain of the criticism. It is a replacement tax for...

Totally agree with you. Example: Senior citizens on a FIXED INCOME will not be able to afford Cain's 999 tax plan.
I am retired, live in Chicago on a fixed income and pay 7 3/4% state and local tax. With the price of food, medicine, rent, etc. we must make use of food pantries and decide whether to pay for food or medicine. There is no money in my pocket for my current expenses and Cain's 9-9-9 tax plan. For those who may refer to senior citizens as those people who have no skin in the game and are “getting a free ride”, let me remind you that I've worked since the age of 18, until recently at age 76, and I've contributed to Social Security all along the way. Cain's tax plan will stick it to the most vulnerable age group who don't have the ability to change their present lot in life due to the aging process and health issues. And without food or medicine, senior citizens will die sooner, rather than later.
This is the time that we must vet all presidential candidates...ask the hard questions and demand answers. Stand up and speak out, senior citizens, pass this information on to your friends, relatives, Tea Party mates, everybody. Email Herman Cain at www.hermancain.com OR write him at Friends for Herman Cain, PO Box 2158, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281 Telephone 678/601-2772
Oboma has to be removed, and a conservative is my choice. Mr. Cain can make some changes in his tax plan, and we must make sure he hears us loud and clear.....we have questions and we demand answers.
HHCs husband.
Frankly, any FReeper who posts to me is treated under the same ethical system and regardless of relationship. So here's the deal:
Any officer of government who speaks before a claque of racist communist traitors like La Raza without deeming them as such, and to their faces, is (at best) unworthy of public trust, a pandering weasel, a coward, and a fraud. THAT'S Rick Perry.
Hence, post to me in a condescending fashion that, because I don't support Rick Perry for President, I don't know what I'm talking about, that he is a patriot simply because he knows it's popular to appear to be a supporter of the Second Amendment (or whatever), then that poster will get that assertion shoved right down his or her throat.
I will not support this glad-handing, pandering, back-slapping empty-suit huckster for the Republican nomination for President under any circumstances.
Of course Rick Perry doesn’t support the 2nd amendment! Thats why he carries a Ruger 380 autoo when he goes out jogging.LOL.
Yourt hatred of Perry gives one pause.A little over the edge eh? Sounds like you are a Romney-ite or a Paul supporter.
If Perry is out there getting Hispanic votes, more power to him.Hispanic culture is by nature conservative.
It looks like the origins of this smear are liberal websites claiming that Mitt Romney "bought" Clear Channel as an attack on Republicans in general and talk radio in particular.
Anyone who has saved and paid taxes on those savings should have money that is not one more time taxed by the Fed. Instead, those people are going to be taxed one more time on money that has already been taxed. That applies to retired senior citizens more than anyone else.
There are many plans, however, that were tax deferred until they were withdraw, BUT in those cases that money is fair game for taxation. The problem, even with that, though, were the assumptions in place when that money was put into a retirement account. The assumption was that a minimal income drawn from those savings would last for so many years. A minimal income would probably be barely taxed or not taxed at all under the current system. Under 999, it will get hit twice. 9% for income tax and 9% when purchases are made.
That 9-18% rate is far higher than most seniors were planning on having their savings taxed. Therefore, those savings will last them for fewer years.
