Newt Gingrichs campaign for president is more than $1 million in debt, according to the campaigns financial report filed Saturday with the Federal Election Commission. The Georgia Republican and former Speaker of the House has raised nearly $2.9 million in his bid for the GOP nomination, while campaign has spent over $2.5 million.
The Georgia Republican and former Speaker of the House said on Saturday that he had approximately $350,000 in cash on hand and had brought in more than $800,000 in the last three months. The average donation to the campaign was $76. According to the filing, Gingrich did not contribute any of his own funds to the campaign over the last quarter.
The campaigns debt is the highest among the candidates for the GOP nod, though former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsmans campaign is $890,000 in debt.
In a recent CNN poll reflecting surveys taken October 3-10, 6% of Republican voters said Gingrich was their choice for the presidential nomination.
I still think he’s the best qualified for the job.
That may be true but he can’t win, as he has more baggage then Samsonite.
(gratuitous cheap shot)
How much of that is owed to Tiffany’s?
I keep hearing about “baggage”, but I don’t recall all that much. He cheated on his wife, and...what? He was taken out of context with that “wither on the vine” remark? I think all this talk of baggage is more media spin than actual baggage.
yeah but you know what it is? Perry comes in saying something great (yeah! Ponzi scheme!) and nobody cares about him anymore. Then Cain says something great and then people don’t care about his 999 all the time.
But everyone cheers when they hear Newt. He’s not a flash in the pan. Everyone knows who he is and what to expect.
Bill Clinton’s “baggage” didn’t seem to matter much to the voters.
Being in such debt, you can certainly tell he has Congressional experience.

RE: He cheated on his wife, and...what?
In the Nov 2009 special elections for Congress in NY-23, Newt endorsed the liberal RINO Dede Scozzafava (voted for same-sex marriage in the New York State Assembly,[20] and she had also received an award from a Planned Parenthood affiliate in 2008) over the Conservative, Doug Hoffman.
She of course did not win the GOP nomination, inspite of Newt’s endorsement, and then threw her own support to the DEMOCRAT, Bill Owens ( who eventually won ).
Thanks very much Newt for supporting the liberal.
Maybe the poster meant, Globus Warmus, as a neo-Latin term.

See above list by other posters. Did anyone mention his favoring ETHANOL SUBSIDIES?

LOL, I was the poster and I sometimes don’t have any idea what I mean.
That’s ok, it was a joke. I think that we kind of need a little amusement right now.
No! You must pick one conservative candidate to support no matter what and then endlessly bash the other conservative candidate in the race. If you're not being a cannibal you're not doing it right. No humor allowed.
LOL - nail on the head, my FRiend.
And don't forget to join the appropriate hyena pack and ping all of your fellow hyenas when the attack opportunities present themselves.
