I think Cain has really jumped the shark on this one, probably because he has advisors who read FR and assume from the more violent posters that the main concern of the entire country at this moment is keeping Mexicans away.

The invasion of illegals from whatever border are NOT all Mexicans. Problem is we have NO CLUE who crosses our borders.

We do need better border control, most of which would be achieved by a program where we could sort out the Mexican would-be field hands and hotel maids from Chinese prostitutes and Middle Easterners or Africans coming here to sell drugs or go on welfare.

The problem is that the Romney-Cain attack on Perry made it sound like he was in favor of “open borders,” which is pretty ironic considering that Texas has spent more than any other state in trying to secure its enormously long border. So this is what people who hear the latest candidate’s attack sound-bite and never go beyond it are responding to, and it’s completely false. The puzzling thing is that the person who has the most liberal record on illegal immigration is Romney, who is never attacked for it. And unlike Cain, who has never held office or had to develop an official policy for dealing with anything, Romney had ample opportunity to work out good policies and never did so.
