Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the countrys border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally...
Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops with real guns and real bullets on the border to stop illegal immigration.
The remarks were among the most pointed yet by Mr. Cain about illegal immigration, and they come as he is enjoying a surge in national political polls on the back of his victory in a recent Florida straw poll..
It is not the first time that Mr. Cain has floated the idea of an electrified fence. He has told the story many times of a caller to his former radio show who chastised him for talking about building a border fence, saying that such an idea was impractical.
Its going to be 20 feet high. Its going to have barbed wire on the top. Its going to be electrified. And theres going to be a sign on the other side saying, It will kill you Warning. At an earlier rally, on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tenn., he added that the sign would be written in English and in Spanish.
This nation has always been a nation with wide open doors, Mr. Cain said at the second rally. We want to make it easy for people to come through the front door. And were going to shut off the back door so you dont have to sneak into America.

Texas has been using technology to monitor the border for a long time
E-Systems was doing it 20 years ago.
I am not against it and neither is Rick Perry.
It appears they skipped the June conference as well as a major black conference..... however all Presidents attend La Raza and NAACP conferences each year, and most Governors do to, as far as I know... Frankly Perry is the only seated governor running, he is from a state with a huge Hispanic population (42%) and as such he represents every one of his constituents, not just the white people who live in Texas and is he being unfairly trashed for doing his job as governor. I think he made a mistake on Gardisil (and I posted it here at the time), but I think he is doing the best he can in TX without any help from Obama to control the border spending millions of TEXAS taxpayers dollars to send TX law enforcement down to the border.... but he is not calling to execute people coming in like Cain... nor should he or anyone else. Cain has first called for banning Muslims and Catholics and now wants to execute Mexicans, I can’t believe people are following the guy like he is the Pied Pipper.
“So Cain gets the nomination and none of the Hispanic vote... how well do you think THAT will work out in November 2012? I can tell you, Obama would win in a landslide.... you cannot win without the Hispanic vote.”
If you think the (legal) Hispanic voters are for open borders you are out of your mind. As for the illegal Hispanic voters, they’re going to vote Democrat anyway. I would just like to limit their numbers.
Have you?
Nothing of course. Illegal immigration lovers will stop at nothing in their argument for no border control...
I will make a note of how Perry people act, very much like the candidate they support. Haughty and all knowing.
C'mon Arizona C Cain isn't calling for that...sigh...I give up...
“Have you?”
Oh, the old you haven’t served in the military Rush, so you’re not allowed to comment on it. Yea, Rush gets a lot of calls from people like you. It’s pretty sickening.
Because a LOT of the terrain along the border is very much like the Grand Canyon...... and they already use boats to patrol the lakes...... why is that okay and drones are not okay. Even if they could build a fence along much of the border — which they can’t — who is going to see the people cutting through them or under them or over them without aerial surveillance??? answer: they aren’t.
So basically, you could care less about private lands along the river..... you are no better than the OWS people who only think about me, me, me..... and that is the biggest problem with this country today... all “group think” and me, me, me... they clearly have stopped teaching critical thinking in our school system.
I concede. It’s hopeless.
Newsflash, they have pretty much self-deported in this economy.... the real issue is the people coming in here to run drugs... there was a time when our local market and the cheap apartments in town were filled, they emptied with the economy tanking... we need to solve the war in Mexico and most of our problems here go away..... it is a cause and effect issue.
“I see you’re another of the hyper-euphoric and hypersensitive Cain supporters.”
I’m neither hyper-euphoric nor hypersensitive. I just tell the truth about you pretending to be fair about Cain. If you can’t handle it, then don’t bring your silly pretending to be fair.
My point, quite simply is, you are not fair about Cain, and spend most of your time on Free Republic either pretending to be fair about Cain, or bashing Cain.
Now please, go on with the Cain bashing, that you were so unabashedly focused on before I distracted you.
“”Im against the government mandating that little girls get shots so that they can have wild and crazy sex in their teen years (i.e., the only reason for Gardacil).””
It’s preposterous for you to continue to say that a vaccine causes risky behaviour. Hep B vaccine, against a virus that is transmitted in blood and bodily fluids, doesn’t cause boys or girls to have “wild and crazy sex in their teens” or engage in IV drug use. Tetanus shots don’t cause boys to walk barefoot on rusty nails in mud puddles.
Vaccines are for the benefit of the person receiving the vaccine. Your abortion straw woman won’t hold up.
Abortion is only beneficial when it is an emergency, to save the life of the mother. Even then, it’s the mother’s choice to sacrifice or not.
“So basically, you could care less about private lands...”
It AMAZES me to hear people referring to the taking of private land when they’re defending Perry - who attempted the biggest land-grab in US history.
My you’re argument list is shrinking.
Bullshit.
“Newsflash, they have pretty much self-deported in this economy.... the real issue is the people coming in here to run drugs... there was a time when our local market and the cheap apartments in town were filled, they emptied with the economy tanking... we need to solve the war in Mexico and most of our problems here go away..... it is a cause and effect issue.”
Maybe in Arizona they self-deported to Texas, but here we welcome them and do everything to make them feel comfortable.
This issue is not going away by your (worthless) claim.
It has always been my point of view that the Mexican Gov is at fault for all of the pointless pain on both sides of this issue.
Mexico is as wealthy in natural resources and land as America is, yet they deny their people.
I would like to have a private chat with Perry on the matter and a separate private chat on the matter with Cain, so as to separate the truth from the crap.
As of now, Cain seems to be shooting from the lip.
I wouldn’t describe the things that sneak into our country as “unarmed civilians.” In the first place, how do we know they aren’t armed? In the second place, they lose any presumption of being civilians when they violate our sovereignty. Why shouldn’t they be considered enemy combatants?
And I have no idea what “you accuse others that they are illegal immigration” means.
Hank
You need to spend more time flying the border my friend.
It will be interesting to see.
Little idiot Perry will not win.
So effectively they support Romney, who is not a Conservative.
It’s interesting to try to understand how Perry supporters think they are still qualified to post on Free Republic.
