Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the country’s border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally...
Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops “with real guns and real bullets” on the border to stop illegal immigration.
The remarks were among the most pointed yet by Mr. Cain about illegal immigration, and they come as he is enjoying a surge in national political polls on the back of his victory in a recent Florida straw poll..
It is not the first time that Mr. Cain has floated the idea of an electrified fence. He has told the story many times of a caller to his former radio show who chastised him for talking about building a border fence, saying that such an idea was impractical.
“It’s going to be 20 feet high. It’s going to have barbed wire on the top. It’s going to be electrified. And there’s going to be a sign on the other side saying, ‘It will kill you — Warning.’” At an earlier rally, on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tenn., he added that the sign would be written “in English and in Spanish.”
“This nation has always been a nation with wide open doors,” Mr. Cain said at the second rally. “We want to make it easy for people to come through the front door. And we’re going to shut off the back door so you don’t have to sneak into America.”

Well they got a crappy lawyer if he thinks the Patriot Act supersedes the 5th Amendment. In other words, I don’t buy it.

Fact is the GOP cannot win an election without the Hispanic vote..... they make up too much of the population today...... IMHO the key is to solve the issues in Mexico driving them over our border... but then that would mean seriously waging the war here in the USA against people who use the drugs that are driving the war south of the border.
Maybe I missed something....show me a photo of any other current Republican candidate besides Perry speaking at the podium at LaRaza...maybe someone has and I just missed them...but it should be easy as "everyone is doing it"....

So Cain gets the nomination and none of the Hispanic vote... how well do you think THAT will work out in November 2012? I can tell you, Obama would win in a landslide.... you cannot win without the Hispanic vote.

It seems that you are for the killing of unarmed civilians. I am not because it is against the law to kill unarmed civilians including illegal immigrants. But of course since you have no logic to argue the point you accuse others that they are illegal immigration.

My point has been that we won’t need to gun these people down, once they know what’s in store for them. We may gun down a few at the beginning, but not nearly as many as already die in the desert.
You can’t be against protecting our border with guns, and still be for letting them die in the desert, which is what we do now.

Why would a 'fence' be required across these lakes? Water patrol could easily patrol the waters.
What does the Grand Canyon have to do with a border 'fence'? Yes, I have been to the Grand Canyon three times. Now of course I was in a vehicle all times and had to go through the 'National Park' entrances to gain access. I did not see anyone on foot trashing up the place.
You think Mexico would stand by on the other side of the Rio Grande and allow US to invade them? Why they would put up a 'FENCE' right down the middle of the river if it served their purpose. Texas is NOT the only state that raises 'beef'. Wonder how much beef is lost by theft due to this illegal invasion?
See what comes into Texas does NOT stay in Texas. AND as much as these 'ranchers' have rights to water from the Rio Grande the rest of US have the right to have secure borders.
