Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Saturday that part of his immigration policy would be to build an electrified fence on the country’s border with Mexico that could kill people trying to enter the country illegally...
Mr. Cain added that he also would consider using military troops “with real guns and real bullets” on the border to stop illegal immigration.
The remarks were among the most pointed yet by Mr. Cain about illegal immigration, and they come as he is enjoying a surge in national political polls on the back of his victory in a recent Florida straw poll..
It is not the first time that Mr. Cain has floated the idea of an electrified fence. He has told the story many times of a caller to his former radio show who chastised him for talking about building a border fence, saying that such an idea was impractical.
“It’s going to be 20 feet high. It’s going to have barbed wire on the top. It’s going to be electrified. And there’s going to be a sign on the other side saying, ‘It will kill you — Warning.’” At an earlier rally, on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tenn., he added that the sign would be written “in English and in Spanish.”
“This nation has always been a nation with wide open doors,” Mr. Cain said at the second rally. “We want to make it easy for people to come through the front door. And we’re going to shut off the back door so you don’t have to sneak into America.”

Well if you think the Border Patrol and military are “Vigilante lunitics” then you’re DEFINITELY at the wrong site. My point was that if we shoot illegals it will not be a bloodbath, but rather a handful will test the system, and lose...and that will be the end of our problem with the border.

As far as representing NPR as "the defacto news source on fences and border control" the first word in my post was "Even" which was a defacto caveat that NPR was the opposite of a "defacto news source." Of course reading comprehension is required to figure that out and we're dealing with something that doesn't read.

I’m against the government mandating that little girls get shots so that they can have wild and crazy sex in their teen years (i.e., the only reason for Gardacil). I have NO PROBLEM with other shots and my kids all have theirs.
But let me ask you this. Would you agree that girls that get pregnant should be forced to get abortions? I don’t, but I suspect Gardacil supporters would be good with that, since that pretty much clears the field for the teen girls to have their sex.
I’d like to hear a good argument against shooting people crossing illegally into our country, violating our sovereignty. Something more than “it’s mean,” or “it’s not part of our values.” Something, you know, substantive.
UNLESS you’re one of those people who would object to a person shooting an intruder breaking into his house.
I like the idea, particularly since my own idea isn’t catching on.
I’ve always favored an “illegal hunting season.” Make it a couple of weeks int he Fall, like deer season. Now what if you shoot someone who isn’t illegal? Well, then you go to jail. You take your chances.

Have you been to the Grand Canyon? Much of the terrain is very similar to the Grand Canyon, not fenceable... and you didn’t answer my question about taking away the land that is in private hands all along the border? Guess your non-answer is an answer, you don’t care..... and these ranchers are all supposed to go out of business because their cattle no longer have access to water? You must not eat meat, because we are talking about a lot of Cattle Ranches in TX that depend on the Rio Grande to water their cattle.

Use some logic. No one would cross sucha fence and there is no reaso they should.
I think Cain’s point is they have no right crossing illegally and we have every right to put something there to stop them.
