I saved the best for last. Petula Clark spent most of her career singing the songs of her husband, Tony Hatch. But on occasion, she would depart from home and sing something by Roger Greenaway, Charlie Chaplin or Barry Mason. This was her last hit, a wonderful Mason and Reed torch song from 1968. I’ve always thought it was their masterpiece. It’s a real heartbreaker, and it still makes me reach for my handkerchief.

Petula Clark: “Kiss Me Goodbye”

Lovely song!
I have not heard that in years, and yes, it’s a tear jerker!
One that always made me cry is :I can’t make you love me” by Bonnie Raitt.
