Bartlett, Tenn. - Herman Cain lashed out at his critics Friday, accusing detractors of his 9-9-9 tax reform plan of trying to slow his newfound momentum with baseless attacks. During his first campaign swing since surging in the polls, Cain told a tea party crowd near his birthplace of Memphis that the plan would grow the economy by five percent at minimum, and pledged to pass it in his first 90 days in office.
Can yall see the bulls eye on my back? he joked to the crowd of several hundred supporters who had gathered in a city park here to see Cain. His critics, he said, dont know how to respond to a real solution to a problem.
Questions have mounted about Cains proposal, which would throw out the federal tax code and replace it with a nine percent flat income tax, a nine percent flat corporate tax and a nine percent national sales tax.
The name of the plan has become so synonymous with Cains upstart presidential bid that a supporter here held up a sign that read, Category 999 HURRICAIN.
Independent analysts who pored over the plan in recent days have said it would raise taxes on the poor and middle class. Fellow conservatives have warned that those nines could creep upward over time. And observers have noted that it would face an uphill battle in Congress.
Cain on Friday derided the former criticism as Washington math. He said that citizen pressure would prevent lawmakers from gradually raising the tax rate, which he called sneak-a-taxes. And the businessman said he is not afraid to promote a plan that is politically unpalatable.

Those criticizing Cain really seem to be defending a tax system that is a thousand times worse than his very straightforward flat 999 plan. Strange how liberal conservatives become when they actually get what they say they want...hmmm maybe they don’t really believe in small govt afterall.
Herman Cain is the man!
“He said that citizen pressure would prevent lawmakers from gradually raising the tax rate”
Yeah, like that’s ever happened....lmao

Defending yourself against Liberal attacks: “lashing out”
Those of us who support him need to send donations to his campaign. Sadly, it’s takes a lot of money to run a campaign, especially a presidential one.
They believe, just like liberals, in “tax the other guy, not me.”
He’ll be getting cash from me soon.
What I would like to see with the 9-9-9 is shrinking government that would turn it into 5-5-5. Pay the bills while cutting the spending, and we won’t have to worry about 9-9-9 becoming 20-20-20. Herman is the man who can do it.

This is ‘lashing’?? /:-\
Under Cain’s plan, with EVERYONE paying the same rates, there will be hell to pay for politicians voting to raise taxes. No more class warfare games, this would be a major blow to the progressive liberals. Problem is selling it to the public in the general election.
Instructions for making cheap, durable Cain car-window stickers.
1. In Microsoft Word, write HERMAN CAIN FOR PRESIDENT in 84-pt Calibri Bold, twice on page, taking 4 lines total. Inkjet print.
2. Take the printed page to Staples. Using their paper cutter, cut into two smaller pieces and trim. Have Staples laminate both pieces together on one 8.5x11 page, spacing the two parts so there is some clear border around each. Ask them to split and them trim. Cost: $2.
3. Go to 99 Cents store and get some Velcro spots. Cost: $1.
4. Put Velcro spots near corners of sticker and on window. Remember to match up spots of opposite type (hooks & loops).
You are ready.
“Lashes out”. Oooh, scary. He sounds mean.
Great—I got my check to him out yesterday. I have a feeling that the more he’s heard, the more money will start coming in.
What do you expect, it’s the Washington ComPost.
Yes... Pony up !
Herman Cain’s 999 plan does more than eliminate the IRS.
It is a all out, armagedeon style, war on the Government Industrial Complex.
Our whole government is like a factory. That factory’s sole output is moving money....either from person to person, business to business, industry to industry, or generation to generation.
The elimination of the “progressive” income tax and the ability to slice and dice different exemptions and loopholes is what the government relies on to maintain its market share..ie, monopoly.
The 999 plan eliminates the actual purpose of our government as it is run right now.
There are whole industries, subcontractors, and business plans based upon the current govt. operation.
999 is fighting against every entrenched establishment entity that exists and it has nothing to do with party affiliation.
and pledged to pass it in his first 90 days in office
That would be a broken pledge unless the Senate changes hands by a wide majority. Very few things get thru the legislature in 90 days in DC.
