The straight-out-of-pulp-fiction plot by alleged Iranian operatives to assassinate a Saudi diplomat in Washington was so badly bungled that investigators initially were skeptical that Irans government was behind it, U.S. officials said Wednesday.
Officials laying out the details of the case owned up to their early doubts about an Iranian role as they sought to counter skepticism and confusion about the unusual scheme one that happens to carry far-reaching international consequences.

Iran might be clumsy, but this was so bad that it could only be a wag the dog attempt by the West Wing Clown Show of Felon/Cretins.
Sorry, WaPo, we don’t belive you any more (as if any sane person ever did).

Pretty simple. Who do you believe, the Obama Gov’t or Iran?

I doubted it was Iran. It was so bungled I thought the Democrats were behind it.

Oops, I had an Obamaloon moment, it’s obviously “believe” instead of “belive”....but somehow this may also be a subconscious Freudian slip.

The whole thing seems a little too conveniently timed to take the focus off the crimes of one eric holder and his fellow perps.

The clumsiest part of this is Holder’s blatant timing of the announcement.

This whole story has been crafted very poorly.
It’s obvious the Iranian government did not sponsor this.

Pretty simple. Who do you believe, the Obama Govt or Iran? It's pretty much a toss-up.

"Wag the dog" requires that the administration actually start a war, yes? I'll wager that this was just a bid for a headline distraction and a bump in the approval ratings. Don't look for action from this crew. (The sad thing is that Iran truly is up to things that are just as bad or worse.)

It’s funny the article lays the blame not at Yabyabado, but Ali Khamenei.

Something is very wrong with this whole thing. We set it up...etc, etc.....
I'm betting we're blowing away our own double agents. Poof....they're gone!!
How come we're so upset about this where nothing actually happened. But Ft Hood.....was hardly given notice.
To: Perdogg
Uh-huh. So, since the US government was initially skeptical about Iran's involvement, it has to be true?
Help me, Freepers- is anybody else buying this baloney?

On another but similar note was anyone besides me suprised that the underwear bomber suddenly decided to plead guilty to a life sentence without even going to trial? Hmmmmm!!!

This is a REAL dilemma! Who is more credible:
- Barak Hussein, who says it happened?
or
- Ahmadinejihad, who says it didn't?
