Why do they still serve peanuts on airplanes if this such a major issue?

They were banned, for a long time; but the customers kept pressure up until Management was forced to remove their heads from a dark and unhygenic portion of their body. Now we can all enjoy a choice between pretzels, peanuts and biscotti cookies with our dixie cup of soda.

I don’t think there was an actual ban. I think it was just a choice by the airlines, like their absurd choice to prohibit use of electronic devices at certain times.
