Investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine what caused the death of Hex the champion German Shepherd.
Meanwhile, his family is continuing to raise money in hopes of finding his killer or killers.
Al and Marcia Govednik found the body of their prized German Shepherd the morning of Saturday, October 8, 2011, nearly two weeks after they believe Hex was stolen from their front yard.
"They just beat him and his collar was missing and they dropped him right there," said Marcia Govednik as she pointed to the ditch.

I breed German Shepherds, this is absolutely horrifying and disgusting that someone could do something like this.

People beat and kill their own flesh and blood. It does not surprise me that they do this to animals too. Just a horrible turn of events.

It’s horrible and disgusting no matter what breed of dog it was, whether it was a cat, a horse, a hamster. I doubt this was done by a competitor, because dog-show people are crazy but not that crazy. Might have been some kind of warning about drugs, money owed, a romantic or sexual relationship, vengeance of some kind, but probably not about the show ring.
Times like this, I’m glad I believe in hell.

How do you steal a dog out of a fenced front yard, was he on a chain.

The owner feels that someone killed the dog because they had a problem with the owner.
Creeps like that are not that hard to catch, when people decide they want to catch them. They usually can’t keep their mouths shut, and this is the kind of case animal lovers tend to dwell on.
Awhile ago a pit bull killed my cat. The PETA lady a couple of blocks away is still furious over it. She actually told me she was going to get a gun permit! in case she sees that dog and “feels threatened” by it again.

I never let my dogs out of my sight, except when they are in the fenced-in back yard.
There are sick people out there.

Allow me to ask a question I guarantee the police are also asking:
Was this prize-winning, champion Shepherd insured?
If so, for how much and to which beneficiaries?
To: Gennie
I'm a German Shepard lover my self. I hope Hex got a few dozen pieces of his assailants.

Actually, that's a good point. All of the German Shepard's that I have ever known do not take kindly to strangers.

I love German Shepherds.
I would start looking for the local wife or kid abusers.
Or some druggie that got caught by a dog.
I am saving to buy a German Shepherd form LEO Dog DNA.
I want one soooooooooooooooo bad. I have never got over losing my beloved Heidi.

For six years my dog never left my sight. She probably thought I was a little nuts.
Then she got cancer and died.
I read stories like this and really feel I’ve lived long enough myself.
