RC2, I think if Mitt or Perry has Cain on their ticket as a VP, that should be good enough to beat Obama in Nov 2012. But if Cain ended up being the Republican presidential nominee, then he’d need to have Newt as the VP on his ticket. That would be a sure win also.
Why would he have any need for Newt?
If Romney is elected with Cain as VP and people feel that Romney really screws up, how will this effect Cain in the next election? I wonder if it’s really worth taking the chance.
There might be a problem with a Cain/Newt ticket.
If they both still claim a Georgia residence, Georgia electors cannot cast their vote for both Cain and Gingrich as Pres/VP or vice-versa.
In a close race that might be disastrous.
If either has another “home state” like Cheney did when he ran with Bush it isn’t a problem.
The idea of Cain debating Obama and Gingrich debating Biden makes me want to throw a party. Can you imagine? They’d be LEGENDARY.
Agreed!!

I don’t disagree that Newt would help, but I’d really like to see John Bolton get some consideration for the VP slot. He would really help with Cain’s foreign policy weak spot. Plus he’s a straight shooter exactly like Cain, and he has a better grasp of what we need to do internationally than anyone I’ve heard. Thoughts anyone?
And isn’t interesting that Cain’s far enough along that we’re discussing his VP choices?
