What is with the beards? I wish I knew more about those people but it just seems like a freakish cult of some sort. I know they are peaceful people and keep to themselves but I just don’t get it. Is it a religion? Is there a book of Amish? They were Swiss I think to begin with. I know they are christian or at least I think they follow the teachings of Christ. Strange people is all I can say.

I once saw an interview with an Amish pastor or whatever they call them.

As near as I could tell, he said they do not believe the Bible requires them to live like they do. They just think it is suggested and think it is a good idea.

Technically, for jewish men (who might be Levites), the requirement per the Torah, is found in Leviticus 19:27 "Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard."
