Announcing his endorsement of Mitt Romney in a press conference in New Hampshire this afternoon, Chris Christie described the endorsement as an easy decision.
Citing Romneys experience as an executive in both the political and private sectors, Christie emphasized the need for a candidate who was ready to assume office and could beat President Obama in the general election.
The biggest reason why I want to support Gov. Romney is because I believe hes the best person to be able to articulate Republican values and defeat Barack Obama in November of 2012, Christie said, mentioning Romneys detailed jobs plan and template for replacing Obamacare.
People who run for president of the United States because they think in their minds, I think I can win, I hope Im ready, which is what the president of the United States did four years ago are acting irresponsibly, Christie added. Mitt Romney says, I hope I can win, I know Im ready. Thats the big difference. Thats what the American people will see this November, and thats why theyre going to elect him president of the United States.
Speaking about Romneys Massachusetts health-care program, Christie said it was completely intellectually dishonest to compare it to Obamacare.
Gov. Romney did not raise one tax in doing what he did in trying to improve the health-care system in Massachusetts, Christie said. I will tell you, that Im proud of him for standing up for doing what he believes is right.
The president of the United States is raising taxes over and over again to pay for this plan he still wont pay for. What Gov. Romney did was what he believed was responsible as governor of Massachusetts to allow people to have access to health care. All the governors should have that opportunity to make that judgment on their own, continued Christie, who emphasized that he believed each state should be allowed to put forward their own health-care solutions.
The fix is in.
What the hell was Ann Coulter thinking?
Rubio is a Jeb Bush guy and Jeb will soon endorse Romney.
Say brother and keep on saying it! I’ll say it, CHRISTIE FOR PRESIDENT? NO WAY, NO WAY IN F”ING HELL!!!!. Sorry for shouting and now back to our regular programming. Thank you.
The Chubby Unicorn turns out to be nothing but a RINO after all.
I was shocked too, different standards for different states. So relativism arises from the establishment.
The Republican Establishment (aka RINOs) think so. They want it wrapped up for Romney ASAP. Cain frightens them. Perry frightens them. They think they've got Bachmann safely sewn-up (I think the Republican Establishment believes that the country's not ready - IOW, they think the independents aren't ready - for a woman President).
They believe that putting up a mild northeastern, Democrat-lite candidate, who's run before, is the way to win over the independents, so they've got to shut down any candidate even remotely conservative, and/or NOT part of the insiders club in Washington DC.
The Republican Establishment hates conservatives. They tolerate us as long as we vote for their pick.
Nuff said.
The northeastern, Rockefeller wing of the GOP. Also includes any Republican who has been in Washington DC *way* past their expiry date. For an example of the latter, see McCain. For an example of the former, see the Bobbsey Twins in Maine.
Their primary motivation is to acquire and maintain power. They believe that the "independents" must be wooed by being "nice" - in other words, by being Democrat lite. They hated Reagan, and they hate "bold color" conservatives.
“Isnt it amazing with such a flawed President as we have, the best we likely will do is Romney as an opponent?”
The eastern, “moderate” self-styled elites of the GOP are hell-bent on doing a rerun of Clintoon—Dole in 11/2012. These pukes want to squander the energy of the TEA Party and throw away an otherwise certain chance to win the White House. I am angry enough to chew nails.
What say you, Ann Coulter? Well....?
Oh, never mind. Go back to your cocktail parties.
I saw that news. It was a transparent shot from Obama & Co., aimed straight at Romney's water line. They know it will hurt him with the Republican base.
The dim bulbs up in the White House have snark and snarl, but they don't have smarts. If anything, they ought to be laying off Romney, lest they wind up having to face Cain, who will slay Obama in the general (due to the fact that he's got Tea Party support, while Mitt does not).
Sorry you are disappointed. But the writing was on the wall when Christie endorsed Mike Castle in the 2010 DE Senate primary.
