Video: 'Occupy Atlanta' Silences Rep. John Lewis Via Jazz Hands (TOTALLY HILARIOUS!)

Having watched this clip all the way through several times, I still can't stop chuckling. Here's a quick primer to prepare you for what you're about to see:

The video begins as civil rights pioneer Rep. John Lewis rrives at #OccupyAtlanta, hoping to express solidarity and articulate support with some brief remarks.

Unfortunately for him, the Congressman is totally unacquainted with the gathering's "rules," which make the US Senate look like a model of efficiency.

The group's "leader" (the hippie with the bullhorn) speaks in three-second intervals so the rest of the assembled group can chant his partial sentences back at him. They're speaking with "one voice," you see. In order to build a consensus, they "debate" whether Lewis should be permitted to speak, or if the program should continue as planned.

This quasi-vote is taken through a juvenile system of silent finger-wiggling (yes, really). The consensus shifts several times before the group settles on a conclusion: Lewis is not any more valuable than any other human being, his request to speak is therefore denied. This decision prompts an angry outburst from Lewis supporters, who immediately earn angry jazz hands of scorn for chanting out of turn.

The look on Lewis' face throughout these, um, "deliberations" is absolutely priceless. When his speaking opportunity is ultimately nixed, he just wanders off in a confused daze. Isn't the Left awesome, Congressman? The cringe-worthy preciousness and feel-goodery of the entire episode evokes a dystopic kindergarten setting, in which every child and teacher has equal say in everything. If it weren't so laugh-out-loud pathetic, I think this video represents a snapshot of my own personal hell.

UPDATE: The Washington Times' Kerry Picket emails to inform me that "Jazz Hands democracy" was also on display in New York this weekend.

Reminds me of what they were doing with the school children early on... the MMM, Barack, Hussein, Obama thing.

So, it began in NYC because of permit issues, but they are doing it Atlanta because.....?

I managed about one minute of FSP. Yes: no PA system. But why did the woman introducing Piven have to add the pre-school finger wave to her intro?

I can’t help but wonder why NYC has issues with PA systems, yet there is no health department shutting the park down for egregious violations? But then, I have wondered about New Yorkers and hygiene ever since I absolutely _had_ to use the *bathroom* (not normally available to the customers) in a restaurant in Little Italy way back in the day. Amazing they don’t have regular cholera epidemics there.

I heard this video yesterday on Beck. I was shaking, literally shaking in fear. I didn’t find it funny even listening to it.

Deranged? Demonic, brainwashing, group think...

While some claim this is from NYC because they can’t use a sound system there without a permit....this took place in Atlanta.

They are nuts?

I suspect it’s because Atlanta allows the bullhorn, but not a full PA system, without a permit.

Or maybe they just think it’s an effective technique...?

Here’s more...with another useful idiot leading...

OY!!! That was unbelievable. All I could think of is how many of those idiots have ever cast an informed vote in their lives. Or even a vote. Our vote is our voice and they are choosing this ridiculous route to show they feel they have no representation. They are anarchists and those duped into following them probably have no knowledge of the system we have in place or how precious it is.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when he got home.

Or maybe when he got home he reported the useful idiots are nearly ready. Maybe this was a test of the militancy temperature. Are they ready to disregard anyone? Even their own icons?

“...Or maybe they just think it’s an effective technique...?”

Exactly. It is _all_ technique that has already successfully inculcated the audience and so, can simply be brought to bear as needed to direct them in this particular venue.

The directed inculcation began nearly 40 years ago. The middle aged facilitators were themselves similarly inculcated. In the brief amount of Piven I was able to tolerate, she keeps encouraging the audience with praise for how they are becoming a movement. Just another Big Lie, as they are trained to respond to these reminders that they are special and in charge when the truth is that they are simply the result of endless misdirection which conflates obedience with Pavlovian response.

Cloward and Piven and the rest of the designers of our educational system have been extremely successful. They are simply reveling in all of this.

When it wasn't risible, it was thoroughly disgusting. That is an insane cult heading down a road that ends in a sheer drop off that they won't see coming.

I initially found it disturbing in a stomach churning way, and couldn’t watch more that a few minutes.

Then, I went back and forced myself to watch the whole thing, and in spite of myself, found myself sitting there (all alone) with my mouth hanging open in astonishment at that spectacle.

They are so filled with a sense of self-importance that they have now idea how it appears to normal people. They call themselves “The 99%”, but I am willing to bet money that 99% of any random group of Americans who watch that would shake their heads in puzzled disgust.

I think even a large number of liberals would see that performance by that crowd and weakly admit that “Yeah, it is kind of weird and bizzarre...”

It seemed completely Orwellian, on a par with “Four legs good, Two legs bad...”

Well said. Piven is a dessicated hag with cloven hooves for feet.

I couldn’t help look at her and wonder just how much her portfolio is worth.

I think those people who claim it is in NYC are just getting mixed up. This type of bizarre crowd behavior apparently originated in NYC due to their restrictions on amplified speech, but you are correct, this is down in Atlanta.

Why aren’t the over-educated pawns protesting Big Education?

OTOH, you really have to wonder where Piven’s assets are invested. Wall Street firms? Banks? Nationalized industries? Municipals? Treasuries? If she lives in NYC, she is seeing her own taxes and valuations affected.

Someone needs to do a forensic audit of all the inculcators and then give it to WikiLeaks.

Talk about ideological blinders! I suppose rational self interest would be anti-revolutionary, but it is also anti-evolutionary.
