'Joe the Plumber' files for congressional run... Drudge Headline

Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, better known as "Joe the Plumber," has formed a congressional campaign committee and filed a statement of candicacy, according to the Federal Election Commission's website.

The filing for "Joe for Congress 2012" was just submitted on Friday, and the scanned file does not yet appear on the FEC's site, and went without notice, to my knowledge, until a couple of hours ago.

The statement of candidacy isn't online yet, but it lists Wurzelbacher in Ohio's Ninth District, which has been held by Democrat Marcia Kaptur since 1983. Wurzelbacher floated the idea he might challenge Kaptur in 2010, and there have been rumors recently that he might consider a run.

Wurzelbacher catapulted into the national spotlight in October 2008, when he confronted Barack Obama about the effect of his proposed tax plan on Wurzelbacher's small business. The encounter, during a campaign stop in Ohio, came a few days before the final presidential debate, and the plumber's everyman cause was then picked up by Senator John McCain, and became a big part of the Republican message.

Yes, the new 9th district extends from Toledo to the west side of Cleveland. It’s a gerrymandered heavy D district, that is likely to be the site of the Kaptur v. Kucinch primary this March.

Will every store that caries plungers be accused of campaigning for Joe?

Let’s hope he can stand the scrutiny that any candidate must endure. I say this just as a huge story about Donald trump is about to hit the airwaves( and keyboards) across the country. No wonder he was not a POTUS candidate.

At least 300 million Americans won’t be appearing with Joe. Why single out Sarah?

How do we donate to his campaign?

Joe is as much a symbol of the Tea Party ad anyone or anything. I drove around with a plunger on my car in support of him.

Ric, from Pawn Stars is running for congress?

I hope Joe wins just to watch the dems go nuttier than they already are. I also hope he’s not embarrassed.

One good thing for him, all the dirt that’s fit to print has already been printed.

Kqaptor and Kucinich are fighting for the Democrat nomination in the new congressional district that runs from the West side of Cleveland to the City of Toledo hugging the lake shore for some seventy miles. This is a predominantly Democrat area. The Republicans already have one candidate in Robert Frost. Frost is the Chairman of the Cuyahoga Republican Party.

Because she mentioned him a lot in 2008, and wouldn’t appear with Christine O’Donnell in Iowa last month.

He appeared at a tea party rally in the Houston area earlier this year (along with Herman Cain, Steve King, Ted Poe and others). His short speech started off ok, but then he started trashing Paul Ryan and his roadmap. This left the whole crowd confused as to what exactly Joe the plumber stands for.

Way to go Joe!

This symbolizes so much. The sleeping giant is awake. Regular folks are mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore. We've been Taxed Enough Already. It means all the Tea Party signs and slogans. It means involvement. It means more and more people are aware. It means we know who is in the White House and who he's surrounded himself with. It means regular folks can run. It symbolizes the start of the tsunami.

Joe running means You can run! It symbolizes any American can have a shot at Congress and maybe higher.

I would propose a more Dickensian way of putting it:

“Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery.”
