Rome is burning because the government insists on doing much more than it is capable of doing. The solution is for it to do less, which has nothing to do with the tuition rates Texas charges illegal aliens who graduated from Texas high schools. Conservatives have a welfare state that was a hundred years building to dismantle. Excluding a few aliens from tuition benefits is not a logical place to start.

Nobody is suggesting that state governments stop subsidizing higher education (they should, but that isn't on the table). That is a function governments are going to continue performing and having them exclude illegal aliens (about 1% of the Texas student population) from the benefit of some of the subsidies (not all, even the out of state tuition is subsidized) would have an infinitesimal impact on the size and scope of government. You are all hot and bothered about the smallest of small potatoes.

We need to rethink the proper relationship between government and citizens. The proper relationship between government and non-citizens is vastly less important. The big money goes to paying off current voters, not aliens who may vote someday (and may not). Payoffs to non citizens don't affect the equation enough to count.

Turn your attention to something important and stop trying to divide conservatives over trivia.

Watch and learn, if you can, which I doubt.

Sorry honey but if you think illegal immigration is something trivial, you are not a conservative nor a patriot. IOW, no sale.

Hey Liz! Did you know illegal immigration is trivial and meant to divide conservatives?

You truly are a legend in your own mind.

I've seen plenty of pinheads blowing on the RINO call and acting all pompous as if they have anything relevant to say. You pretend like you are something different and have something to teach us when you are just spewing the same ole RINO BS we have seen on FR for many a moon. BWAHAHAHA!

Typical of an elitist RINO, you miss the larger point. Perry has shown where HIS heart is (and you have also in turn) - basically condemning those who raise the salient issue that we should not be giving ANY incentives to illegals. Because we have seen that if you reward bad behavior, you get more of it. And if Perry wants to use tax dollars to pander to Hispanics in this particular instance, what intellectually is going to stop him from other pandering when it suits him politically?

Yeah, tuition for illegals is small potatoes fiscally. But it shrieks volumes about Perry's mindset - and yours. It shrieks that your collective mindset blows chunks in a day and age when we need to shrink government and provide disincentives towards illegals. We need someone as the GOP candidate who will alter the status quo, not hijack it for their own advantage. So stuff your lame condescension. We know exactly what we are looking for, and it ain't your RINO droppings.

The state of Texas is, in fact, obligated to care for the children of illegals until they graduate from high school. Federal law requires it, a fact you either can't grasp or insist on ignoring.

Sorry, I didn't see a link to that federal law. Until I do it's just you stating it.

Federal law dictates what a person has to do to legally enter this county and coming into this country illegally is just that...illegal entry.

Either you can't grasp that or insist on ignoring the law.

The children of illegals are not remotely like squatters in your yard. Like it or not, we've taken them in and made them part of our community.

No, it's more like breaking and entering. Done by the parents, the children are just collateral damage brought in by irresponisible parents that are looking for a free ride by illegally entering this country and dragging their kids, aunts, grandparants and other members of their extended families for us taxpayers to support.

If you wish to take them in, then sponsor them so they are not a drain on the taxes of citizens.

That's the way it is supposed to work.

Your "ravings" are writing yourSELF off as a fringe kook pandering to Mexico's desire to send their citizens here to colonize.

Ya know calling names only diminishes credibility.

Keep bringing them on...

Sorry, sweetie, but if you really can’t grasp the difference between instate tuition for illegal aliens and illegal immigration more broadly, there’s no point in continuing a discussion with you.

Have a nice day.

The case is Plyler v. Doe, 457 U.S. 202 (1982). It mandates public school enrollment for illegals. In a companion case the Supreme Court forbade municipalities from charging illegals tuition.

This is one of the most basic facts associated with the debate over instate tuition for illegals. Anyone who doesn't understand that the schools are open to illegals under federal mandate has no business engaging in the debate.

The ravings just get more and more idiotic.

Have a nice day, and try to learn the difference between a mountain and a molehill.

Try to learn the difference between a Republican and a conservative. One does not automatically equal the other, and you’re living proof of that.

Oh, and in case you don’t realize such, your attitudes stated on this thread, as reflected in Perry, are the main reason he is sinking like a brick in the polls. Keep it up, and see how well you do converting folks over to your point of view on FR.

Perry must have made some huge deals under the table with his Mexican buddies.

Clearly, his infamous “heartless” remark was self-serving-—itended to silence the “bigoted”voters———so that bighearted Rick could advance the Third World agenda.

That kind of talk works in Texas-——but on the national stage it backfired bigtime.

Ricky is scurrying to get back on top-—he’s cramming for the debates as hard as he crammed for the exam in “Poultry Feed” at Texas A&M.

Every word out of his mouth is focused-grouped to the nth degree.

He’ll be flipping faster than a short-order cook filling a breakfast order.

So you don't have any links for backup?

Anyone who doesn't understand that the schools are open to illegals under federal mandate provide proof of their statements has no business engaging in the debate.

Your support of criminal invading insurgent alien colonists belongs on liberal boards, not conservative ones.

Unbelievable. Invincible ignorance on display. Do you want a link for the blueness of the sky? I gave you a case citation. If the case is too hard to read you could google it, but that would require at least one firing synapse.

You don't know the first thing about American immigration policy. Wipe the spittle off your keyboard and educate yourself before you presume to have an opinion.

So you got nothing as I figured.

If you want to have a decent debate, make your case in the future. Don't ask others to do it for you.

You fluffy types sure are obsessed with spittle.

You're dismissed.

Who is Rick Perry? Did he used to be somebody?
A pro Baseball Player perhaps, or was he in the NFL?
The name is vaguely familiar but I just can't place it.

Oh. ... wait .. I got it. He played Pro Football up in Canada didn't he.

I was actually hoping he’d do better in the NH debate so that viewers wouldnt think Repub losers run for prez.

But Perry was his old self-—everytime he was asked a substantive question, he reverted back to “I’m the greatest” nonsense talk.

Perry has nothing to offer but an inflated sense of hiumself-—and that goofy grin when he knows he’s in over his head.
