Rome is burning because the government insists on doing much more than it is capable of doing. The solution is for it to do less, which has nothing to do with the tuition rates Texas charges illegal aliens who graduated from Texas high schools. Conservatives have a welfare state that was a hundred years building to dismantle. Excluding a few aliens from tuition benefits is not a logical place to start.

Nobody is suggesting that state governments stop subsidizing higher education (they should, but that isn't on the table). That is a function governments are going to continue performing and having them exclude illegal aliens (about 1% of the Texas student population) from the benefit of some of the subsidies (not all, even the out of state tuition is subsidized) would have an infinitesimal impact on the size and scope of government. You are all hot and bothered about the smallest of small potatoes.

We need to rethink the proper relationship between government and citizens. The proper relationship between government and non-citizens is vastly less important. The big money goes to paying off current voters, not aliens who may vote someday (and may not). Payoffs to non citizens don't affect the equation enough to count.

Turn your attention to something important and stop trying to divide conservatives over trivia.

Sorry honey but if you think illegal immigration is something trivial, you are not a conservative nor a patriot. IOW, no sale.

Hey Liz! Did you know illegal immigration is trivial and meant to divide conservatives?

Typical of an elitist RINO, you miss the larger point. Perry has shown where HIS heart is (and you have also in turn) - basically condemning those who raise the salient issue that we should not be giving ANY incentives to illegals. Because we have seen that if you reward bad behavior, you get more of it. And if Perry wants to use tax dollars to pander to Hispanics in this particular instance, what intellectually is going to stop him from other pandering when it suits him politically?

Yeah, tuition for illegals is small potatoes fiscally. But it shrieks volumes about Perry's mindset - and yours. It shrieks that your collective mindset blows chunks in a day and age when we need to shrink government and provide disincentives towards illegals. We need someone as the GOP candidate who will alter the status quo, not hijack it for their own advantage. So stuff your lame condescension. We know exactly what we are looking for, and it ain't your RINO droppings.
