Am tired of the ribbon and all else that 'the pink' markets. The amount of pink now visible - that translates as 'cancer' is over the top. I see 'Company trucks' and so much more; now painted pink 'for the cause'.
Personally, think, if the very word 'cancer' was dropped from the airwaves for a year or two; if it's 'advertising' went silent altogether; the number of cases would drop. It is inserted way too often, into our public consciousness and creates not just 'awareness' but fear, which in turn, can invite 'the thing in itself'.
We 'get the message' 24/7 and can only say,'enough'!
Very insightful. I tend to agree, with reservations. I would never want to imply that someone with cancer had brought it on himself. I think it has more to do with the body's immune system. I believe that cancer can live in one's body for decades, doing no harm, and then, because of a stressful situation, it gains a foothold and spreads. The fear you mention could be the kind of stress that could actually help to activate dormant cancer cells.
