Is there a difference between illegal and asylum seeking? I know here, you can claim asylum at the border (usually the airport) and your case gets investigated. If it fails, you supposedly get deported again.

I would suggest that in this case political asylum applies. She was after all being specifically targeted. I would think that we need to be careful about lumping all together as we accuse them of using this case as a sympathetic character example.
