It's wrong to call Perry a racist
Star-Telegram ^ | October 4, 2011 | Bob Ray Sanders

Posted on 10/09/2011 12:16:16 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

I will not make a habit of defending Gov. Rick Perry. I promise.

It would not be in either of our best interest -- certain to cause some of his supporters on the right to question further his conservative credentials, and most assuredly making my liberal friends wonder about my sanity.

For some it was bad enough that I recently commended our governor for his stance on providing a college education (at in-state tuition prices) for noncitizen children of illegal immigrants. It's one of the few things Perry and I agree on.

But the latest brouhaha surrounding suggestions of Perry's racial insensitivity forces me once again to rise to his defense.

Believe me, as a native Texan who happens to be black and whose roots go back 150 years in the Lone Star State, I know racism as well as anyone in this country. And I've never been one to shy away from denouncing those who exhibit racist attitudes or tolerate bigoted behavior. For several years, I taught a course at Texas Christian University called "Race, Gender and the Mass Media."

Combine that experience with decades of observing American politics, and perhaps no one is more qualified than I to make this pronouncement: Rick Perry is not a racist. That is, no more than any other American shaped by his/her national, regional, cultural, ethnic and religious influences.

Let's put this notion to rest immediately because, as we say in Texas, that dog won't hunt, not even on the plains of northwest Texas where Perry shared a lease on 1,000 acres.

But the Washington Post is determined to keep this smear alive.

Oct 8, 2011: Behind the Rick Perry hunting camp story ..........................."After the article was published, the Perry camp put out a carefully worded statement reiterating its point that the rock was painted over in the early 1980s and stating: “A number of claims made in the story are incorrect, inconsistent, and anonymous.” Anonymous, yes, but incorrect how and inconsistent how?

Since the article ran, no one from the Perry camp has contacted The Post to request a correction or dispute specific points made in the article. Politico also asked the Perry camp to detail its objections to The Post article. Perry officials said no.

It makes you wonder."

Let the best dog win...

I was on record long ago for Sarah P....

Now I have to lean toward Herman Cain. He is a Tea Party reconsructionist- that’s what we need.

If Perry can pull it off he needs to be ready to break some serious eggs.

Of course La Raza Rick is racist. He’s racist against people that want the border laws enforced.

“All I said was the mere fact that that word was there was ‘insensitive.’” Cain responded. “That’s not playing the race card. I am not attacking Gov. Perry. Some people in the media want to attack him. I’m done with that issue!”
Herman Cain

Herman Cain lied. Here are Cain’s actual quotes:

1. And since Governor Perry has been going there for years to hunt, I think that shows a lack of sensitivity for a long time of not taking that word off of that rock and rename the place. It’s just a basic case of insensitivity.”

2. “For him to leave it there as long as he did before I hear that they finally painted over it is just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country,” Cain said.

Cain jumped on Perry to improve his own rating.
He attacked Perry and LIED about it, saying he didn’t.

He has shown himself.
He is no different from Sharpston, Obama and the rest.

Remember the line “doing the job Americans won’t do”? Spoken by a former texas governor? We don’t want Bush 45. That single phrase slammed the the door on anyone from texas gaining a toehold in national politics.

Since La Raza Rick won’t be the nominee, there’s no worry.

Go Herman Cain !

No, it won't even involve obama. Perry outed himself as a mexican sympathizer, just like Bush 43. That one remark has branded texans as supporters of la raza and are more concerned with what goes on in mexico than the US. I've heard more than enough from texans on how the mexicans are so much better at work than us Americans. Outside of Texas, you have relegated yourselves to irrelevance.
