Rick Perry, the Republican Texas governor seeking the GOP nomination to take on pro-abortion President Barack Obama, touted his pro-life accomplishments during a speech to a crowded house at the Values Voter Summit event.
“You know, there are millions of Americans that are born into less than ideal circumstances. Maybe they were born into poverty, born without a parent. But as a society, we must stand for the principle that every life every life is worth living, regardless of the circumstance,” he said. “In America in America it’s not where you come from that matters, but where you’re going. As Americans, we must affirm the value of life, not just in our Declaration of Independence, but in the way that we live.”
“For some candidates, pro-life is an election-year slogan to follow the prevailing political winds. To me it’s about the absolute principle that every human being is entitled to life. All human life all human life is made in the image of our creator,” he said. “And every innocent life must be protected, from the most frail, who are elderly, to the most vulnerable, who are unborn.”
“That’s why as governor I have consistently worked for pro-life legislation, policies such as parental consent for minors seeking an abortion, a ban on third tri-semester (sic) abortions, an informed consent law,” Perry added.
During his speech, Perry referenced his signing of a bill to revoke the taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business in his home state of Texas.
“I’m proud to fight for and was proud to sign a budget that defunded Planned Parenthood in Texas,” Perry said. “Our obligation is not only to protect life and bestow freedom on future generations, but it’s also to instill character.”
Perry has received an A grade from the two leading pro-life groups in Texas.
Governor Rick Perry has always championed the pro-life cause, tirelessly advocating for the sanctity of innocent human life in numerous ways, Texas Right to Life executive director Elizabeth Graham tells LifeNews.com.
Governor Perry has worked alongside Texas Right to Life, helping shepherd our pro-life bills and eagerly supporting our measures, Graham said. As governor of Texas, he has intervened to stop anti-life legislation on a number of occasions, and he has helped clear obstacles when necessary.
For the pro-life movement, changing the makeup of the Supreme Court is perhaps the number one issue as the current pro-abortion majority on the high court makes it impossible to overturn Roe v. Wade and allow for either federal or state efforts to provide legal protection for women and unborn children. Graham says her organization has been appreciative of the nominations Perry has made as governor.
Every one of Governor Perrys judicial appointees adheres to a strict constructionist style of jurisprudence; neither do they find a right to privacy in the penumbra of the Constitution, nor do they legislate from the bench, Graham assures. Governor Perrys appointments have created the largest, most conservative judicial body in America.
Joe Pojman, the head of Texas Alliance for Life, has also worked closely with the governor and confirms to LifeNews that Perry has always been pro-life throughout his time as an elected official.
For many years, Perry has supported the fund raising efforts of pro-life organizations, including Texas Alliance for Life, and he has appeared several times at the Texas Rally for Life held at the state Capitol to commemorate the tragic Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, Pojman added. We believe Perry has the right stuff to be president. If elected, he will aggressively defend innocent human life as he has as governor of Texas.

It’s a pity that will be buried under the bigot preacher story.
The preacher is not a bigot.
Romney is not a Christian.
Rick Perry has several negatives but compared to Obama, none that rise enough to vote against him. If he is ordained by the Republicans, I will vote for him...but if another is voted in, I will vote for him/her.
Anybody but Obama is my philosophy, simple but true...
Would prefer Cain at this point, but that could change...
So do I!
Me too! :)
Perry is about as pro-life as you can be. His defunding of Texas Planned Parenthood abortion on demand clinics got a round of rousing applause and deservedly so.
I’m sticking with Perry, but like you I will vote for the eventual nominee and against Obama. Please let it be anybody but Romney or Paul.

Amen and amen!!!
For the fourth time this week I have been at stores where a young Black female was asking for contributions for the Komen Fund and I continue to give my by now much practiced speech on their tie to and funding of Planned Parenthood and how many Black babies have been aborted in the U.S. in the last 5 years alone. All the females have just stared back at me like I was from outer space. Interestingly though a couple of Black guys asked me questions-one even commented that PP is helping wipe out their race.
Yes he has real record of actions against abortion unlike some other candidates who either have a very bad record of actions against abortion (Romney) or just have no record at all as they were not elected to any public office but only talk the good talk about it (Cain).
You don’t get elected Governor of the most conservative state in the union three times if you’re not doing a good job. Perry has a solid conservative executive governing record for the last 11 years. He’s worked hard to keep his state competitive in creating jobs, keeping taxes low with restraints on spending. Along with serious tort reform and reductions in regulations.
If he became potus Perry would govern as a fiscal conservative and reign in spending and regulations. With a GOP Congress on his side Perry would also lower taxes, then work on real entitlement and tax reform. Those policies and rolling back Obamacare would set in motion serious economic growth that would help to create jobs everywhere in America.
You’re a campaign worker paid to come here and troll aren’t you?
” We believe Perry has the right stuff to be president.” <<<
All in for Perry here, too. :)
Your paranoia is showing. The way some go after new members is shameful. It’s kind of dumb to chase potential donors away.
As long as the new members are posting within the guidelines they should be welcomed as if they are treated nicely they then can become part of the community. However, when new posters are constantly called trolls or personally attacked then it only looks bad on FR.
He’s been out there meeting and talking to the American People. Just not on TV or Internet.
A lot is going on we cannot see.
Praying he does good at the next debate.
But 30 seconds isn’t much time to express yourself.
I think he would make a dynamite President and I intend to vote for him.
Yep, he’s doing the groundwork in the key states and racking up endorsements left and right.
