This protest is really all about student loans. Sean Hannity and Michael Medved have been interviewing them - and that’s what it is about.
My next door neighbor’s cousin (who briefly lived in their house) came from Algeria about two years ago. She could only speak Arabic and French. She took a really lowly job at our local A&P supermarket. I’d occasionally give this lovely young lady a ride home after a long day. Her English was coming along.
One day she moved out of her relatives’ home and is living in a tiny apartment two towns over. Next, she owns a run-down little car. Next, her English is fluid.
Now she’s the MANAGER of the A&P! I walked past her and she was being photographed with “her guys” - her employees. She had the most beautiful smile on her face.
Now, that’s MY America. Not these wicked knot-heads destroying lower Manhattan.
Sorry for the rant.
As you talk about Student Loans, I am waiting for Obama to take on his buddies in higher ed.
Every year college costs skyrocket and the staff and teachers get more and more compensation for less work. Meanwhile the endowments at places like Harvard and Yale grow into the sky.
Sounds like we need a windfall profits tax on higher Ed and a tax on college profs to help fund access for all. Obama needs to be consistent here. At least with skyrocketing healthcare costs we get new meaningful treatments for our money. College education? Diminishing returns. Hmmm...maybe we also need the federal trade commission here to investigate claims and promises attached to attending college.
Thank you for that story.
