Rick Perry just gave a well received speech Here at the annual Values Voters summit in Washington, D.C.though not flawless, the Texas governor is a lot sharper when hes in control, not under fire in a debate setting. But the Texas pastor who introduced Perry has unexpectedly opened the door to a sensitive issue barely discussed in this primary so far: Mitt Romneys faith.
....whether he had in fact been referring to Romney and Mormonism, Jeffers said he had. Mormonism is a cult, he said cheerfully, before rephrasing his onstage statement in a more explicit way: The choice, he said, is between a born again Christian and a good moral person who is part of a cult.
....A Perry campaign spokesman responded to a request for a comment by merely saying, The Governor does not believe Mormonism is a cult.

Early Christians (prior to the Apostasy years later) were considered a cult. I guess we are in good company as Mormongs then.
Wanna bet? Many EVs do not follow their "leaders" in lockstep the way the mormons do.
It looks like Perry's Pastor comes up short
on his values and knowledge of the WORD.But he appears long on racism.
Cain is a born-again Baptist.
Mormongs... run away... ;-)
Has a great section on Mormonism. Perry's Christianity, or the people he surrounds himself with, are questionable.

Perry also personally opposes the Ground Zero mosque at the WTC sight but says its a local issue to be decided by the people of NYC. Also, the Governor is a huge supporter, defender and friend of the State of Israel.
The opposition to Mitt on account of his faith has dropped in half (or more) since the last election. The White Evangelical Protestant column is very enlightening.
I'm not the betting type, but would love to take you up on it. We could make the bet a steak dinner if you like. Paypal approved. ;-)
As much as I dislike Perry, his pastor is dead on right about this one!
Sure he’s aware how Christmas came into being. Just because something was “introduced by a cult” doesn’t mean it has to remain a cult celebration.
As for Jesus being a Jew, I’ve heard anyone say he wasn’t, and isn’t.
I have also heard him preach more than a few times that Jesus will reign from Jerusalem.
Jeffress is a Christian, he lives as he believes. What’s wrong with that? Romney does the same thing. When they both die, they’ll find out who was right.
Your point would be brilliant if you could follow it up with actually links/statements on FR to mormon haters.
Are you kidding? Cain is in the tank for Romney. He's eyeing to be Romney's running mate. For cryin' out loud, he hasn't said a bad word about the guy. All Cain's ammo has been directed towards Perry.
Perry laid the corner stone at a Mosque in Texas and here is a quote from one of his speeches.
It is a great honor to be in the presence of the Imam of 16 million Muslims around the world, a global humanitarian leader, a man of peace with a pluralistic vision for people around the world, His Highness, the Aga Khan, the 49th Hereditary Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. Your Highness, on behalf of 23 million Texans, and over 600,000 thousand Muslims living in Texas, I extend our heartfelt appreciation for your 50 years of great international leadership. We are delighted to welcome you to the Lone Star State and participate in the celebration of your Golden Jubilee. I am also grateful to the many federal, state and local leaders in attendance tonight. By their presence, these special guests convey the profound respect that exists in the Western World for His Highness work and leadership.
He has a rather cozy relationship with Muslims and even helped to get teaching about Muslim history in Texas classrooms.
Straighten our Herman Cain while you’re at it. He apparently thinks Mormons are Christians.

I already sent him a letter with my testimony on leaving Mormonism.
:)
I guarantee those numbers will change if Romney get the nom and the Media starts actually talking about his wacky Mormon beliefs - especially his racist beliefs up until he was 30, and a leader in a racist cult.
BTW, did you ever take the LDS missionary discussions like
I’m all for doubling down, if you want in on the bet.
BTW, did you ever take the LDS missionary discussions like you promised us you were going to?
What people say to a pollster on a PC question like that, and what they actually do in the voting booth may be MILES apart....kinda like the mormons on FR who claim they didn’t/won’t vote for Mitt.
So, steak dinner or not? Regardless of who wins, we’ll use exit polling data after the Primary elections if you’re willing to back up your claim.
Actually, I WAS kidding...;o)
