Alabama's new immigration law made its way to Scottsboro Tuesday evening.
Police chief Ralph Dawe said an accident in the 24600 block of John T. Reid Parkway brought officers in contact with a Hispanic female.
"She didn't have the proper identification which led us to believe she could be an illegal immigrant," said Dawe. "We followed the law."
Officers detained Maria Del Carmen Peralta, 20 who was residing in Scottsboro.

She’s a 20 year old illegal immigrant woman, which means social services will have to care for her five kids until we
can catapult them all back home.
What a nightmare! Can you imagine being in a serious car accident with an illegal? No license, no insurance, and sure to abscond.
LOL!
That’s why I refer to illegal aliens as “California Gremlins”. Just throw water on them and they spit out their spawn.
It was around noon and the weather was clear in Philly that day. The police told my friend's Dad that there was nothing they could do, the guy did not have a; license, address, job... never thought about it then but he was illegal.
The cops ended it by saying that they could follow him and stakeout where he goes but what for?
Since then, I've had more than a few friends that have "run into" the same
[Underlines mine] Even though the state authorities did their job, the Feds will continue their Kabuki theater.
Owl_Eagle..If this were you whom slammed into the back of a van with illegals in it, the cops would not be giving you a hard luck story and for sure the illegals would sue you for every dime you have. Illegals get off with not having to pay anything, but let it be legal citizen to do this, the illegals and their supporters would all be there going on all about law and order and demanding justice and of course all your money and anything else of you have of value.

That's the most irritating part of illegals, is that they're rarely held to any law.
They don't worry about taxes, or car insurance, or health insurance. In a situation like the one you experienced, of course the police are going to let him go. They're never going to be able to even determine who he is. What do you think would happen if you or I tried that?
Yet we look the other way because they're shiny eyed, dusky hued, struggling “immigrants”, just “trying to feed their families”/”in search of a better life”.
Ping!
Isn’t it a felony to re-enter the country after being deported?
"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' felony is." (cough)
Sure it is. But it will never be prosecuted because the illegal always volunteers to self deport to avoid prosecution.
And the court to keep things rolling right along, says great, here’s a bus/plane ticket and the process starts all over again.
They all come back.
