House dismisses resolution condemning Perry ranch [Jesse Jackson Jr]
MSDNC ^ | 10/06/11 | Luke Russert

Republican presidential politics made a surprising and unexpected appearance in the House Chamber Thursday, when a Democratic congressman sought to force a vote on a resolution condemning Texas Gov. Rick Perry for having a rock on his hunting ranch that contained a racial epithet.

The House voted to set aside a privileged resolution aimed at condemning the stone on Perry's ranch offered earlier in the day by an impassioned Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL).

Earlier in the day, Jackson read his resolution on the floor. It called on the House to:

“Condemn Texas Governor Rick Perry for using a secluded West Texas hunting camp as a place to host lawmakers, friends and supporters on hunting trips at a place known by the name painted in block letters across a large, flat rock standing upright at its gated entrance called 'N*****head.'"

The resolution came in reaction to a Washington Post report on Sunday that a hunting ranch leased by Perry and his family had, for some time, contained a stone displaying the racially-charged name of the grounds. Perry's campaign has insisted in response that the word on the stone had been painted over in the early 1980s....

The House voted to defeat Jackson's resolution, 231-173, in a largely strict party-lines vote. Just one Democrat, Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar, sided with Republicans in voting against bringing the measure to the floor....

How about a resolution condemning Obama for attending a church who’s minister said “God Damn America”?

Attach that to the Jesse Jackson, Jr resolution and see where it goes!

The Church also preached absolute racism against whites.

Obama sat there like a rock for 20 years, went to Harvard, yet didn’t know his high profile radical preacher held these views.

Just thinking there was well over a hundred Democrats there who were willing to sign on to an anti-Perry resolution with NO EVIDENCE, not even a picture.

I suggest we purge them from Congress on ethics violations ~ gotta' be some way to do that.

America would be much better off without those people interfering in House business.

The trumped up calls from the Jackson family never end. That’s how they make their living. It is all just to make sure Perry doesn’t win the nomination. What about Jesse Jr. buying of Obama’s senate seat or his affairs with a white woman? He who is without sin may cast the first stone.

And they should also introduce a resolution condemning Mitt Romney for.... oh, wait.... There’s nothing in particular that they dislike him for, other than his party affiliation, is there?

The Democratic creed, not as I do, do as I say.

It’s ok to have a Justice Department that decides court cases by skin color but have anything anyone can get offended by anywhere on earth and boy can they ever get their dander up over nothing.

Oh for heaven sakes, cut it out. Jesse Jackson Jr. did Perry a big favor by introducing this resolution as it will tick off innumerable people who could very well swing to Perry’s side because they are so ticked off by this. But lay off bringing Romney into this thread which had nothing to do with him at all. Geez, you guys amaze me with your unnecessary vituperative behavior. What Jackson did will end up helping Perry, not hurt him.

It's an observation on the fact that the Dems and their media adjunct are still training virtually all of their firepower on Perry, even though he's polling 3rd in most polls. It doesn't make sense to me.

The silly season never ends on Capitol Hill.

AND it has been going along since forever and with the active connivance of the MSM has been easily aimed at the GOP. To my mind the classic of this genre was the 1991 accusation, by former Carter NSA Gary Sick, that Bush Senior rode the back seat of a SR-71 in 1980 to delay the release of the Iran-held Hostages until after the 1980 election. The Democrat-controlled Congress was very happy to held hearings and committee meetings on this accusation well into the 1992 election year. What a bunch of maroons!

It takes a little time for a new set of talkers to be written and distributed. The democrat shills will pivot in lockstep and start attacking Cain soon enough, once team zero decides how it wants to play Herman.

I can’t believe the vote....The Dems want Cain....They know Obama will take it...It’s the numbers...No one is going to jump away from Obama to side with Cain.

This isn’t silly, this is insane. Since when does congress get to condemn an American citizen.

I think we need a resolution condemning Congress. I’d vote for that.
