Talk about your Monday from hell. Not only did Bridgett Nickerson Boyd's car break down on her way to work, but when she pulled over to the side of the freeway, a sheriff's deputy named Mark Goad pulled behind her, wrote her a ticket for driving on the shoulder, decided to arrest her, followed her to the hospital when her suddenly racing heart prompted a call to paramedics, then took her into custody again after she was treated by doctors and finally drove her to jail.
To make matters worse, Boyd claims in a lawsuit that the handcuffs were put on her wrists painfully tight and that she was forced to listen to conservative broadcaster Rush Limbaugh "make derogatory comments about black people" all the way to the jail. Boyd is African-American.

If she continues to play her cards right, she might wind up in the Arpaio jail where they pipe in Newt Gingrich’s history lessons!

I haven’t listened to Rush in years. When did he start making derogatory remarks about black people?

Rush doesn't make derogatory comments about blacks. He sometimes repeats what others have said - about blacks, whites and everyone/thing else.
She's lucky the LEO wasn't listening to rap. Then she would've heard extremely "derogatory" comments about african americans.

I don’t listen to a lot of Rush either, but from what I remember he might have been going off on a jag about race baiting rabble rousing poverty pimps like Jesse Jackson.

Ah. The officer just upped and “decided” to arrest her, eh? For no good reason.

Boyd is African-American. Stupid Mike Tolson and The Houston Comical. The REAL story here is what the hell was Rush Limbaugh doing in the police car!???

Setting aside the inflammatory headline, the facts of the case make the officer look like a jerk:
- Boyd's attorney, Troy Pradia, said she thought the deputy had pulled up behind her car to help her. She had moved to the shoulder along Beltway 8 near Texas 288 after her engine started smoking.
- "Deputy Goad was aware that Boyd had not committed a crime and her arrest was without probable cause," according to the lawsuit filed in Houston. The magistrate who saw her while jailed apparently agreed and dismissed all charges.
You may be amused by the "indignity of being forced to listen to Rush", but this sheriff's deputy was way over the line. Officers have been fired for less than this.

That’s what I was wondering -
is “not pandering” the same as “making derogatory remarks”?

Rush probably criticized Obama. That’s not the same thing as saying derogatory things about black people, but the professionally indignant are prone to overlook the difference.
