I know people are real disappointed that SP didn’t run. I am too. She was my #1 from day one all the way to today.
I do not worry for her. She has her family. She is smart and able She has the ability to continue to be Kingmaker and possibly far more of an influence than she could ever be as Prez.
It’s time to move on. The fight continues I don’t believe this country does or should fall on the choices of one person. This is a representative Republic and WE are in charge, if we choose to be.
Don’t like Democrats? Vote Republican. Don’t like RINO’s? Get Tea Party candidates elected in your primaries and have a Tea Party majority. Don’t think we can win President? Work to get a veto proof majority. Work to get majorities in your states. Work, work, work, work, work.
It is OUR job to keep the Republic. It takes hard work. Even if Sarah Palin isn’t running. If you don’t work you get what you get. Even the guys bunkering for CWII are working for something.
There are no options. There is no country to run to. We fight for this one or we go down to Tyranny.
Fight to the Death.
Fight to the Last Man.
We have no other choice.
Yes—we should take Sarah’s advice and let the principles lead our nation.
She has opposed Obama more than anyone else, and now all conservative candidates look to her ideas as a model for their platforms.
It’s the principles that matter, not the personalities.
Hate to say I told you so...but.
I had my money on SP; she had what it takes- she’s been fighting since the 2008 election while all the men were hunkering for cover.
Here we are now- and the fight is not over yet, by a long shot!
Thank God for the Patriots who have carried the flags of freedom before us.
North and South- Patriots together!
There is no reason to believe she will not retain her moral authority which Fred Thompson had already forfeited to a large degree by his performance in the Senate hearings which, if not lackluster, did not meet expectations. In any event, he never held the affection of the people to the degree Sarah Palin enjoys.
I think a fellow named Richard Nixon who started out from a much worse position than Palin is in today did much the same between 1962 in 1968.
She should have announced earlier.
I predict she’ll be invited to speak at the GOP convention and it will be like Reagan speaking in 1976, only more so. Everyone in the room will realize that Palin would be the stronger candidate.
Like Sarah, the GOP supported John McCain for President in 2008, and for the Senate in 2010. Is that the model we're to emulate?
That is exactly why Sarah Palin will not be invited to speak at the GOP convention.
Just a question I'll put out there to ponder. If the economy starts improving and, God forbid, Obama beats Romney or Perry in 2012, in 2016 will it be Sarah Palin's turn?
Agreed!
..........don’t see her having any influence with me...............
that said, I appreciate her efforts and contribution. She is a “great american”. But, I am not much interested in what she has to say anymore.
I do feel she has been less than candid with her devoted supporters!
He held little sway,in the party, after losing to JFK, but did manage to rebuild it, which Palin won't do.
For all of the people who have said, for a very long time now, that she'd be best being a "kingmaker" or a "cheerleader", they were wrong then and are still wrong. By bowing out, she offers little now. Who cares who she'll endorse for the presidency,or what she has to say now? Perhaps some, but not as many as some, including herself, now suppose.
Unlike Nixon, she can't now turn to writing books about policy,as she hasn't the experience to do that, as he did.
She claimed,on Greta's show, that some of the GOP candidates have already called her. I,for one, don't give a damn who she decides to support......I'll make up my own mind about whom to support;thank you very much and I doubt that I am alone in that.
I believe that you are assuming things about her supporters that is not true, as is she.
Sarah Palin will no longer have any effect in politics!
Their is now NO REASON to even give her a platform to speak from.
She knifed all of us who supported her square in the back.
I will no longer listen to her when she speaks, and when the dvd I ordered from Amazon shows up, I’ll burn it.
So much for reloading!!!
I may be wrong, but I think that she can't make a "comeback" and run in '16. She could have done that, had she run and lost the nomination or the general, but not now.
A house divided will fall (as the 'Good Book' reminds us.)
We can all do MUCH more than just post on FR. We can, and I do, always get out of the house and work and contribute to the conservative cause where I live. We have MUCH more to contend with than who will be our next president. That means keeping our GOP in the hands of conservatives LOCALLY. Fail that, and conservatism fails nationally.
Palin isn't going away, and I seriously doubt that she will cease doing what she does very well - promoting conservatism.
What FReepers need to do is get out of the 'circular firing squad' here on FR, and get out there and fire at the RINO's that work tirelessly to take over the GOP at the local and state level. Then, and only then, can they say that they have fought the good fight themselves.
Have a great day... and don't cease working for victory!
Now you discuss Nixon in these terms:
He held little sway,in the party, after losing to JFK, but did manage to rebuild it, which Palin won't do.
Which confirms and emphasizes my argument concerning Nixon and I believe his career is informative as Fred Thompson's was not. Merely to repeat a position is not to buttress it.
It remains to be seen how Sarah Palin proves her ability to shape politics and policy. It is undeniable that she has an extraordinary magnetism for a vast swath of the Republican conservative movement. She does not fill rooms she feels stadia and park grounds.
you might well be proved correct as you insist that this magnetism will evaporate. But in the focused conservative community that will have great leverage in future elections and on future policy, there is every reason to believe that she will maintain her level of influence. By the way, I did not say that her endorsement of a presidential candidate in the primary would be decisive nor do I believe it will be.
I think the reality is going to come down somewhere between the two extreme views.
There’s no way to get around the fact that Sarah disappointed a huge number of people today. A lot of those resent it in a very deep personal level. It’s going to take them a while to come around to her way of thinking and I don’t think that all of them will.
As for being an influential voice, I agree with “I see my hands”. I think much of her appeal will now dissipate.
I'm not really concerned for Palin personally. She has made tons of money and could now quietly go back to Alaska to live.
What I'm very concerned about is the Tea Party. Whether I like it or not, the unofficial leader has basically quit, leaving the entire movement vulnerable to the attacks of the Left and the Republican establishment.
While I'm sure the Republican candidates are now breathing a sigh of relief, I suspect an actual celebration is happening tonight at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
