Sarah Palin confirmed in a letter to supporters she will not run for President in 2012, saying at this time she can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other Conservatives to office.
Below is a copy of Palin's letter:
October 5, 2011 Wasilla, Alaska After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision. When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order.
My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office from the nations governors to Congressional seats and the Presidency. We need to continue to actively and aggressively help those who will stop the fundamental transformation of our nation and instead seek the restoration of our greatness, our goodness and our constitutional republic based on the rule of law.
From the bottom of my heart I thank those who have supported me and defended my record throughout the years, and encouraged me to run for President. Know that by working together we can bring this country back and as Ive always said, one doesnt need a title to help do it.
I will continue driving the discussion for freedom and free markets, including in the race for President where our candidates must embrace immediate action toward energy independence through domestic resource developments of conventional energy sources, along with renewables. We must reduce tax burdens and onerous regulations that kill American industry, and our candidates must always push to minimize government to strengthen the economy and allow the private sector to create jobs.
Those will be our priorities so Americans can be confident that a smaller, smarter government that is truly of the people, by the people, and for the people can better serve this most exceptional nation.
In the coming weeks I will help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the President, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House.
Thank you again for all your support. Lets unite to restore this country!
God bless America.
Sarah Palin
Mittens will shamelessly lie as he deems necessary to make himself "good enough" in his imagination to ride the elephant to personal power and greater wealth. He has no ambitions for the USA worthy of achievement.
If you want to apply Admiral Gorshkov's: "Better is the enemy of good enough," the attempt is a failure since it assumes that Elitist Boy Mittens, by Brainwashed out of Lenore, is good enough. He is not and never will be. Mittens should take his stock portfolio (his only real credential) and put it where the sun shineth not. Mindless materialism ignores the really important issues that Mittens and his ilk despise. BTW, Gorshkov headed the soviet navy until he was 75 in 1985. How long did the soviet union last thereafter? And, no, it was not because a waffling compromiser retired.
If the perfect is the enemy of the good (the original observation mangled by Gorshkov), then the drastically flawed Mittens is the enemy of us all.
Black Elk
One of the FR Zealots and proud of it!
This too will change.
Go pound sand!!!!!bugger off..
Don’t you get the impression that Obozo is a talented, ummmm, solo fisherman???
Even the anti-establishment media like Big Hollywood are falling behind Cain now. Perry’s momentum is gone the way of Thompson and Guliani.
(My response is copied and pasted from another thread, because I don’t feel like typing up something similar again. BlackElk, I’m pinging you, since point 4 is similar to what you wrote in 201.)
1) Good for Sarah. I bet she realized that she would not win the general election and instead will allow an electable conservative to run. It takes a strong character to put aside their personal ambitions to do what is best for their country.
2) If she is really not running for fear of her family, that is a telling reflection on the state of this country and should serve as a wake-up call for all.
3) The reactions of her most ardent supporters are amazing and unsurprising. This is what happens when you put too much faith in one imperfect woman.
4) The stool of conservatism has three complementary legs. They are social conservatism, fiscal conservatism, and national defense conservatism. Her letter reflects a disturbing trend, which is emphasizing fiscal conservatism at the expense of social conservatism and national defense conservatism.
Sorry, but economic issues are the least of our worries right now. Sure, Obama is implementing the worst economic policies in the history of our nation. However, our nation is sill very wealthy. People all over the world still dream about living at the high material standard that we do, and most people who ever set foot on this earth would die to live like the poorest among us do. On the other hand, a million of our most innocent are butchered a year in their very own mothers wombs, its becoming more and more the case that we are beginning to be forced to pretend that Adam and Steve are married, and the institution of the nuclear family is still in shambles. On the national defense side, suicidal mullahs in Iran are beginning to get nuclear capabilities, a new and better than ever caliphate is potentially forming in the Middle East, the existence of Israel is being put in ever increasing danger, not-so-friendly China is still on the rise, and we have porous borders that our emperor refuses to close. As for miscellaneous issues, our Second Amendment rights are being pried away from us, we have a ridiculous amount of illegal immigrants, people are acting like global warming isnt a laughable scam, race-relations are being set back decades, and we have a wannabe president in office doing his best to either destroy this nation and/or become dictator of America, caliph, or ruler of the universe.
So yeah, fiscal conservatism is important, and it complements the rest of the conservative platform. But the economy is not the #1, consensus, by-far most important issue right now, and conservatives should stop acting like it is.
I hope everyone can respect that.
It can get more interesting and tougher if unifying behind one or the other is necessary to keep Romney from being the nominee. I hope it doesn't come to that.
There's only been one or two of those on this thread, Greg, and I'm not one of them. She's a remarkable lady and I'm certain we will see alot more of her in the future.
We’ll see how it all shakes out.
That is the way I feel right now..it could of been so special..
I understand. She’s not going away, though. She’ll be raising money and campaigning for TEA Party common sense conservatives so we can take back the Senate and increase our numbers in the House. She’ll still be fighting for us!:)
I understand your feelings. Mitt is at the bottom of my list too. Another McCain. A Romney win is a BIG loss for the Tea Party.
I do not trust the guy. Flip on Abortion, guns, Health care (post of FR today supported mandates in 2007), trade policy is stupid and he will continue to support crony capitalism.
That's where you lose me. And you wont find me again unless Romney declares himself a commie who thinks we should follow in North Korea's footsteps.
2012 is not referendum on where the republican party is going but a referendum on where America is going.
maybe she’s going to run as a DEMONcrat against Obama so he has to spend some money on a primary opponent
My guess is that she’s pregnant
I am shocked and disappointed.
Not sure how disappointed because it hasn’t sunk in yet.
I was so sure she’d run and now I look at the field and just sigh.
The only one left I like seems to have taken a big dip in popularity... I hope he can recover. I’m talking about Rick Perry, who doesn’t have major issues but they’ve been made so by the press and by overreaction to his poor debate performance.
I really don’t want Cain. I’m sure he is a fine man but not ready to be president and I’m not really sure he is electable.
Wonder who Palin will support?
Absofreakinlutely right!!!!!!
I could not agree with you more.
GO PERRY
http://www.rickperry.org
I totally agree. If you run the Perry ping list, please put me one it.
Hugin, share your sentiment but I think it’s time to give it up. She’s not running.
I do not see Presidents debate very often....do you?
