>>Apparently you missed the numerous threads where anyone who wasnt wholly behind Gov. Palin was labeled, among other things: homosexual, PDSer, concerned, troll, RINO, DUer, RomneyBot, supporter of the Huckster, Democrat, liberal, etc.
This is a significant development at FR not only because many people have been waiting for Gov. Palin to announce her candidacy, but because a subset of those same FReepers were downright nasty to anyone who didnt agree with them. Not only were they nasty, after they ganged up on fellow Freepers and drug them through the dirt, theyd then celebrate on the thread giving, as one FReeper put it, high-fives. For me, the whole Palin candidacy question has been a real eye opener. And not in a good way.<<
I agree 1000% — I was one of those who, just because I DARED say Gov. Palin wouldn’t run, I was called every name in the book, including many that aren’t even supposed to be allowed. (btw the thing you addressed in your post is one of the most hateful of the bunch).
To those people, I say the following: I *WAS* the voice in the wilderness. My analyses *WERE* correct.
And, to be frank, my FRiend (I see you were also the subject to spittle-flecked hate and vitriol), my immediate reaction this evening on hearing the news (on Hannity) wasn’t the implication to the USA. It was a deep sense of vindication to the goons and buffoons who quoted Sun Tzu (and lieingly claimed to have read his works) every time someone stated the obvious: she wasn’t going to run and her delay in saying so was not a good thing.
So you palinstas can KMA while you are dining on crow. As 4P pointed out, you contributed to the darkest and most dismal times in FR history. Your hate was only surpassed by your denial and complete lack of decorum.
You people owe me and folks like 4P — and payment will be extracted. Revenge is sweet but payback is...well you know.
(again, 4P, this is directed at the hateful crowd, not you).
Don't you think this is just a little creepy?
Freedumb you have never been anything but a steaming pile here, on all subjects, not just Palin.
Hopefully this was a once in a generation type deal. We were dealing with a cult of personality situation. Many of us that pointed out Palin was not likely to run, had made serious mistakes if she had any presidential ambitions, and was not infallible were attacked by the Saint Sarah fanatics with pure venom and hate. So it is understandable that you are bitter (and I do remember some of the unfair attacks against you), but remember that ultimately everyone here is on the same side of the political struggle - even if some aren't always the nicest of people.
For too long I think many of Palin's supporters were simply trying to tear down anyone in the race thinking it would be better because they were sure Sarah would run. Now that this unpleasantness is behind us, I am hopeful that now that we know the presidential field we can get down to the business of fairly and reasonably vetting the candidates without all the viciousness.
Ditto.
I’m not here to gloat as I too have been seeing the very clear signs that Palin was not running for some time now. It was clear to anyone who was willing to see it. Many simply were not.
What does bother me though, and I mean this as a constructive criticism, is how many people fell in love with a persona and ate it up. Cult of personality. Just as we accuse (rightly so) the Obama cultists who were passing out at appearances and naming their kids after him. We on the right seem to have too many who are equally susceptible and willing to worship an individual rather than ideals or the bigger picture.
That’s come scary stuff. It’s damned hard to legitimately call the left out for their Obama worship........if we practice the same but simply for a different personality.
Replacing “their” King with “your” King is not a step in the right direction.
Excellent post, in fact I’d say POST OF THE DAY.
