If McCain had won, team discussed dumping Palin (Top McCain '08 adviser Charlie Black: Not true)
Washington Times ^ | Wednesday October 5, 2011 | Bryon York

Posted on 10/05/2011 1:40:22 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

"The idea of a mentally ill vice president who suffers in complete isolation was obviously sparked by the behaviors I witnessed by Sarah Palin," Wallace tells Time. "What if somebody who was ill-equipped for the office were to ascend to the presidency or vice presidency? What would they do? How long would it take for people to figure it out? I became consumed by this question."

It's not surprising that Wallace would choose a public forum to portray Palin in such a negative light. Wallace's name was near the center of post-campaign speculation about unhappiness with Palin within the McCain team. But now, Wallace has added a new and striking element to the story: She says the McCain team discussed the question of whether, if McCain had won the 2008 election, it would have been "appropriate" for Palin to actually take office.

[...]

UPDATE: I just spoke with Charlie Black, who was McCain's top campaign adviser in the 2008 race. "I never heard any such discussions," Black told me. "There were no discussions like that with McCain, or I think I would have known about them. That doesn't mean some subset of the senior staff might have talked to each other about it."

“What if somebody who was ill-equipped for the office were to ascend to the presidency or vice presidency? . . . How long would it take for people to figure it out?”

Ummmm . . . I’d say in the case of the VP, about 10 minutes. In the case of the President, about . . ummm . . six months for most of us . . . three years for others . . .

I really dislike nicole wallace so much that I immediately turn her off, as soon as her picture comes on the tv.

It’s worth keeping in mind that Nicole Wallace and Steve Schmidt - the two central figures in the 2008 deconstruction of Sarah Palin during McLame’s campaign - both worked for Karl Rove before joining the McLame team. Supposedly - and this came from a blogpost - Rove recommended a number of his own people to work within the McLame campaign in order to sabotage it. Rove had designs on TWO terms for Obama and then have Jeb Bush (and obviously Rove) stride back into the White House to mop up the disasters and reign supreme for 8 years of their own. The theory goes further to say that once Sarah Palin was becoming THE biggest draw in the campaign of 2008, the Rove clique had to diffuse her - they couldn’t fathom that she was 9and is) so overwhelmingly popular with voters. And that’s when we got the disparaging stories about the Palin clothes and such broadcast everywhere. If anyone truly fears Sarah Palin, it’s the Progressive Republicans like Rove, Bushes, and their minions like Schmidt and Wallace.

Again, a theory. But an interesting one :)

We don't need to dwell in the past of a deranged madman. What we need to dwell on and investigate is Obama and his administration's actions in siphoning off money to Solyndra not once, but TWICE (at least planning to per Drudge).

Obama is acting like a doped up power-mad dealer/pimp feeling his oats in his own little neighborhood. Only that neighborhood is the United States of America. He is an abject failure and embarrassment, period. If I were a black man in this country, I'd be ashamed of Obama and why I'd voted for him based only on his [half] color.

Wallace pulled this kind of cr@p during and after the campaign. She's a extremely vivid imagination and as a leaker is unparalleled. Both she and Steve Schmidt did their level best to help McCain implode (not that he needed any help). IIRC Wallace's husband also has some Romney connections.

I could probably remember more but thankfully I made the conscious effort to erase any memory of this little mole.

"What if somebody who was ill-equipped for the office were to ascend to the presidency or vice presidency?"

I think this is a question to which time has provided an answer. Three years of both Obama and Biden and here we still are.

Someone needs to clue Wallace in that the only reason McCain’s vote percentage wasn’t in the low 30’s was that conservatives took solace in voting for his running mate.

And just how would they have ‘dumped Palin’ if she said she didn’t want to go? Sounds like a load of bull to me.

So to paraphrase: McCain only gives a McCain about McCain.

She probably would have seen the light and resigned for the benefit of the greater number, just before committing suicide by shooting herself three times in the back of the head in Ft. Marcy Park.

Just seeing Wallace on TV, she looks like the sort who’d engage in this type of sniping and backstabbing.
